Lock 1 Blanchtown and Waikerie

While we had some spare time in Waikerie we went for a drive to Blanchtown.

The start of the locks in South Australia and the Murray River.

We have decided to use this as a reason to go away of a weekend.

I’m still trying to find out how many there actually are. Here are some different maps and charts. It may take us a while but it is a reason to get out and about.

So here we start

You can see well above my arm is the flood levels for 2023 & way back to 1956. I cannot imagine that much water.

Even on these buildings the measurements are marked.

This is an amazing view.

Look at all the birds and so many pelicans.

On the bridge heading back to Waikerie.

The shop wall was painted with a beautiful mural.

And at the gate of the Waikerie caravan park. Gnomeville.
It's nothing like the one in WA but it is still very cute.
