UFO CHALLENGE No.. 7 NEARLY INSANE...

My No. 7 UFO JANUARY CHALLENGE project is my NEARLY INSANE PROJECT.

I started this many years ago with the Kilmore Quilters.
I have joined some of the blocks to make feel a little better.
Now I need to make this quilt grow.
So I hope to get a few more blocks sewn.

Here is the graph I am at now.
Hopefully I will make some progress on this during the rest of the month.
The blocks coloured in the coral colour are the ones I hope to get made to hopefully complete a few more rows..

NEARLY INSANE UFO CATCH UP

My resolutions this year was to finish some UFOs. Unfortunately I didn't get March's UFO done.there was just too much happening with hubby. I might get to it this month. I did manage to baste it ready for quilting though... Fingers crossed I can catch up.
Anyway this month I am to try and get something done on my Nearly Insane quilt.
Well, yes I have started.
I got the box out and I couldn't even remember what I have done.
Here is my chart of the blocks I have already completed. I started this with the Kilmore Quilters group back in Ocober 2013. I kept up until October 2014. Then my mum was put into hospital and my sewing time decreased. Unfortunately my mum passed away in March 2015 and I didn't do much sewing. So now I have decided to do some more on this quilt. Members from the group have finished and I will get there one day.
Here is where I was at... Half the blocks are done.
My plan and how many blocks I've done
I thought I would get the blocks out and see what they look like.
Pieces and blocks laid out to see where I am up to.

I decided to start sewing the quilt top together as I had already cut out the sashings and corner stones.
2 rows sewn together

I sewed a few rows together and I am missing some ends. So the next step is to fill in the corners. I am happy so far with my progress . 3 side blocks need to be done before I go any further.
Waiting for some side blocks.

April fools day

Is it a joke or isn't it. 3 months gone already..
My UFO RESOLUTIONS LIST.
I haven't quite finished my March UFO... No 7. Crossroads to Jerhico.
It is pieced and basted. The quilting has been started but not much has really been done. It was a busy month... So it will be a double catch up this month...
2016 UFO resolution list
This month I couldn't find the dice I have been using. Out come the deck of cards. UNO anyone.
They don't go to 12 so I substituted some for 10, 11 & 12.
Hubby drew the card.... NO.....6...  WORK ON MY NEARLY INSANE BLOCKS.
That's ok. I am only half way through them. I have Dear Jane and the Splendid Sampler in progress so some more 6" blocks won't hurt. When I drag them all out to see where I am up to I'll get a photo.

OCTOBER NEARLY INSANE BLOCKS

I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY NEARLY INSANE.
The girls at the Millrosie retreat kept me sane while I was making these on the SATURDAY.
BLOCK NO.. 92
These are the four corner blocks for the quilt.
I think they are little out so I am not going to trim them until I put the together.

BLOCK NO. 67

I still have one more block to make for this month before our next meeting. It is a little bit harder so I will have to do this on a good day.

My retreat work

What I got up to at the retreat
I worked on a few projects but haven't taken photos yet.
My list of what I did.....

My dragon fly quilt for AUSSIE HEROS organised by Jan-Maree
(Just finished quilting it a week later)
The colours are a pale blue and pink. The backing was more of a purple but the dragonflies are so cute. The request was for baby blue & pink & dragonflies.
I think I have covered it.
I just love this pattern and I spent my first day of the retreat cutting, ironing and machine blanket stitching it. A friend from my Monday group was the artist that drew it for me. I did get the idea from Pinterest. I stippled all over to give the applique pieces a little more strength. Now to finish stitching the label.

My LITTLE LETTERS from Temecula Quilt Co

I did some more Honour Blocks and Nearly Insane blocks.
Photos still to come.
Then I worked on some BOW TIE blocks.
Wow.. I still have some photos to come and catch up.

NEARLY INSANE in SEPTEMBER.

I have been working on my Nearly Insane quilt all year.
They are only 6" blocks and will take me quite some time to do.
With only doing 4 blocks a month I am nearly half way through.

No.. 16
It looks like this block was done with the scraps. I didn't stick to the pattern and used up my little scraps that I keep in the bag for all those tiny pieces.

No.. 18
This block has 227 pieces in it. It looks nothing like it is supposed to. I got so confused doing it foundation pieced method. I am not very accurate doing it this way... I think I would have been more successful making lots of half square triangles.
My seams don't match, pieces are in the wrong spot or upside down.
GUESS WHAT???? They can stay there. With the tiny stitches used for foundation piecing I am not able to unpick. Now I just have to take out all those papers. OMG.....

The other blocks went together very easy.
At least they are done....

I am linking up with NTT...NEEDLE and THREAD THURSDAY
Have a look at what others are doing.......

AUGUST SEPTEMBER NEARLY INSANE BLOCKS ARE DONE

I spent a day working on the months 4 NEARLY INSANE BLOCKS. Yes, these blocks only measure 6.5". Some have so many tiny pieces.....
Our group is on a mission. They want us to have these quilts completed by mid 2016 for our quilt show.... It is good inspiration having others do the same quilt.
Here are my blocks...

I had some trouble with this one because I don't like "Y" seams so I decided to appliqué the stars on to the background

FNSI REPORT

I joined in with Wendy and lots of others for FNSI over at Sugarlane Quilts.
Yesterday, I had a friend over doing a little sewing. We talked and talked.
I finished off another square bag.

Then I did a little bit of secret sewing.
(Which I can't show you)
The afternoon came and went, Hubbies home, inside to cook dinner and back outside for some more sewing.
Now for the NEARLY INSANE blocks.

What a sewing day or 2

I had fallen behind with doing my NEARLY INSANE BLOCKS. I was not at the last Kilmore Quilters meeting so I didn't do my blocks. I work a lot better with deadlines. Well, it's that time again and our meeting is tomorrow night. So I had a lot of sewing to do. I made it.. All 8 blocks are complete and up to date. Yes, that's them done for May & June.
UNTIL TOMORROW WHEN I GET 4 MORE TO DO FOR JULY.

OMG I was nearly "NEARLY INSANE"

Here is this months Nearly Insane blocks I got done. This is being done with some others at Kilmore Quilters. Instead of leaving all the half blocks and the hard ones to last we are getting them spread through the months.
OMG.....This block drove me crazy. I was really nearly labelled INSANE.  It took me 7 hours to make a 6" block. I think it turned out pretty well. It is not really square but it is done. I don't think, at this stage, I will try to redo it. My friend thinks i am INSANE for doing this quilt.

What a few days I've had sewing

I was on holidays for our quilt groups first meeting back this year.
The new numbers were handed out for the Nearly Insane blocks.
So February's blocks have been done a week before the next meeting where I will be getting the next numbers to be done.

I messed this one up so I added a little extra.
If I feel like one day I might redo it. It depends how Insane I get.
