The binding is complete and I am so happy with this finish...

A day of quilting....

 Well I decided to bite the bullet and hire the quilting frame at our local quilt shop. I had my Bonnie Hunter ON RINGO LAKE quilt top dropped off with the backing and wadding. Helen was wonderful and had it all loaded before I got there for the day.

Helen helped me roll it on each time. She was great.

Look at the quilting pattern. I love it.

It’s a huge quilt measuring 76” * 90”. I can see the end and a couple more runs and it will be done....

I chose a dark brown backing and used latte coloured thread. The quilting design matches the backing really well.

And 6 hours later I had it quilted. 

I am exhausted, my feet and back are killing me. Time for a rest now...

It definitely was well worth it. All I have to do now is trim it then bind it....

Her is my 2017 mystery top that I finished a while back.

My mission has been to get my friend, Maxine to finish hers too.

Last year and this at our retreat Maxine has brought her quilt along.

Now, keep in mind, Maxine only started quilting about 3 years ago. She was a bit daunted with all these small pieces and the importance of accurate seam allowance.
We started to look at where she was up to at an all day sewing day at our local group.
We laid out the pieces and worked out what needed to be done.

And here it is at the end of the retreat.

Yes we noticed the mistake at the top.

We are not trimming it until it is quilted . The lovely colours Maxine chose instead of going scrappy look amazing.

She has done a wonderful job.

She may even give this years FROLIC a go.

I am so happy this is now a top.

It has taken a very long time. Some of which I nearly gave in but as the saying goes.

SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE.

I got to the finish line.

All I have to do is quilt it now.

I didn't buy anything to make this. It just shows that all the little bits left over can make good and be beautiful.

Borders are going on my ON RINGO LAKE.

Wow, on to the next step. Cutting the points off ready to sew a new pieced end.

PLEASE LET ME MEASURE AND CUT CORRECTLY. 

Sewing on these tips makes me feel very close to adding borders.

All the border setting triangles are ready to be stitched.

I have sewn the first 5 rows together. It is really feeling like I will get this finished.

It has taken a while but slow and steady..

ON RINGO LAKE sashings trimmed- OH NO!

I had sewn these blocks well back at the beginning of 2018 when I wasn't keeping up with the mystery weekly instructions. I was so far behind and got really bored with it. Trying to fit it in around work. It seemed to be taking too long. But good things come to those who wait.

I sat down in front of a nights tv and started to trim.

Okay.. sew 2 movies later I have all the blocks trimmed and ready for joining together.

My hands are sore and need a rest.

When I went to sew the sashings together I discovered I had ironed them all the wrong way.

I've started re ironing them. They will be waiting there for me next weekend..

When I was away at retreat it's obvious the conversation was distracting as I didn't read the directions correctly/thoroughly..

At least I don't have to unpick or resew....

Mice, mice and more MICE

She is back on track, pieces counted and not so overwhelmed.

Aren't these so cute.

A member of my group makes and sells these at the market. 

She needs the money and I haven't the time but these are so cute.

I ordered some for my friends Xmas gifts..

More " ON RINGO LAKE"

Ok... so all my blocks are ready to assemble .. All 50 of them.

I am sewing together the 50 blocks. It's getting there...

I am about to iron the 240 pieces ready for trimming and the sashing blocks will be ready for joining.

My blocks are sewn /webbed in one direction ready for ironing and sewing the next step to complete the block...

I think some of these photos are out of order but I'm sure you get the picture...

Now I am on to joining the blocks, starting on the sashing and I'm nearly there.

I know the new mystery has started... GOOD FORTUNE.... I will get to it. I'm printing the instructions and not stressing that I'm not sewing along.

I am trimming up my many blocks. Mm mmm I think 50 * 9 patches...

Maxine decided to only do a certain colourway and work with what was in her cupboard.

These colours are lovely and work really well together.

Bonnies Mystery part 2--- ON RINGO LAKE..

Another week has passed and another clue has started... I have convinced my friend to sew along too.
She has changed the colours up and they look great.. She hasn't done too much small piecing so it's a great learning curve for her.

 I'm doing the no waste technique. 

4 at a time works for me. As there are so many to make this week.
