Happy birthday to my son John… Lockhart Painted Silo.

Today should have been my sons 29th birthday.

On our trip home last month we needed to stop for fuel. This was at a small town called Lockhart.
There were a few displays of iron work, a beautiful horse and cart on a centre island and the beautiful painted silos.

Unfortunately there was a large tree and a building close to this painting soi had to walk around and take a lot of photos to get all the pictures.

Happy birthday to my son ———- Some sewing, mending and retreat packing…..

Happy birthday to my son, JOHN. It was 10 years ago today we celebrated your last birthday together.  You would have been 28 today and a wonderful man. We are not allowed to let balloons go into the air any more. Please know we are sending these ones to you now.

I am slowly doing a little bit of sewing.

First up is some mending. Attaching a button,

stitching the opening to close the gaping hole.

March over at Angela’s was YELLOW…. Soscrappy RSC challenge. April is PINK

https://superscrappy.blogspot.com/2022/04/scraphappy-saturday-digging-into-pink.html

Also TABLE SCRAP CHALLENGE at the Joyful Quilter. March was FLOWERS. April is WORDS

https://thejoyfulquilter.blogspot.com/2022/03/march-2022-table-scraps-challenge-link.html

I am on a mission to make more of these useful placemats. Out came all my yellow little scraps. Some strips & blocks leftover from a previous baby quilt and other bits.

And in goes the zip.

Now it is finished. Funny how this photo shows it as orange but it really is yellow.

Then on to my little doggy sew along.

This month we are to work a border with appliqué. I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I bought this cheap fabric on clearance at Spotlight. I didn’t realise at the time it would fit this project perfectly. So, start with the borders. Careful of the directional design.

Isn’t he bordered so sweet.

Here are the appliqué designs I chose.

I spent a couple of days doing the hand stitching. Look at where it is now.

I have a little bit of hand stitching packed for retreat

I’ll be on my way to Scrub Stitchin’ soon to meet up with some blogging friends.
It’s about time we met in person.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SON, JOHN

All I can say today is
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SON, JOHN.
Who would have been 26 today.

As we do every year, these are the balloons we let go into the sky for them to fly up to him.

His light is glowing in his favourite colour.

The rest says it all.

Thanks

I've been absent but I'm back

Some of you might have noticed I haven't been commenting on your blogs. You all know what has been happening in my life. Yes, like everyone, I have been busy.
My husband and I decided our daughter needed a fun holiday for her 30th birthday. She has been dealing with a lot. So we thought she would like a cruise. We planned it, booked it, paid for it and then things changed....
Our house went on the market, my husband had a stroke. Luckily he is recovering well. With all that I needed a holiday. Some people say I am selfish but you know what, maybe I am. Yes I needed a holiday. My husband was looked after and we have some good friends. My daughter and I need some time together too. So our holiday went ahead.
This was us over the past week enjoying a cruise to the South Pacific. Stopping at all stations.
NOUMEA, LIFOU NEW CALEDONIA & PORT VILA, VANUATO....
The town hall
My cultural part of the holiday...........
A GOOD START TO OUR HOLIDAY.
Kristys breakfast in beautiful sunny BRISBANE
Look at this yummy breakfast.
It was better than what was at the motel we stayed at but that's another story..
Enjoying a FLUFFY DUCK cocktail for Keryn
Kristy saying, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN .
We couldn't let the balloons go but we enjoyed them all week.
Acknowledging my son,  JOHN, what would be his 22nd birthday
Just a little bit of fun we had.
NO WE DIDNT WIN ANYTHING
We did relax a little.
Somewhere at sea.
Luckily we had a pedicure before we set off..

I am sure when I have settled and Kristy and I have shared photos there will be more.
NO SEWING HAPPENED. I WAS TO BUSY HAVING FUN....

OLD QUILT, NEW POST

Today I am linking up with Vals for her Archival Tuesday
This weeks themes are... Boys... BOM... WIP... & FINISHES.
That's a good range to choose from.
Here is my BOY choice. ROAD GAMES
Here is my sons quilt that I made him for his 6th birthday back in 2000.
It was my first curved quilt.
I hand pieced it as well as hand quilted it.
It was only my 3rd quilt that I had done. I am still very happy with it.
Whenever we went anywhere we would take this quilt and a handful of matchbox cars. Then he always had something to play with and then keep him warm for his nap or on the car trip home.
