Baby bibs and other gifts.

One of my best and oldest friends recently became first time grandparents. I have been busy making some gifts for them. I already had a sample package put aside. I keep this for measurements and a reminder of how/what to do. So out came other supplies

I make these bibs out of a towel. It’s the easiest way. Buy a nice quality towel. Depending on the size I can get 6-8 bibs made. Cut the towel evenly. I then cut a 6” hole for the head. Add ribbing for the neck and add binding in the colour of your choice. No backing required because of the good towel used. The bibs can’t be pulled off easy and they cover a lot of the body front. Easy clean up.

I continued to make flannelette bandana bibs with the snap closures.
The holes cut from the towelling bibs I backed with flannelette and overlocked the edges. These became washable breast pads.
Also made, the new in thing, pee pee tents. To help when changing boys nappies.

And I love knitting these cuddle bunnies. I use soft thick yarn. Chenille works really well.

This is a super easy cute baby gift package.

Baby Boy Bandanas

I wanted to make some bibs to add to my Pepe pee tee pee gifts...

I used the pattern from. simplysmallwonders.com but it is now no longer available. It is such a great
pattern. So THANKYOU for making it easier to make my gifts...

I managed to get 5 cut out of the stip of fabric that I had.
Now to sew them right sides together..

I ironed on some interfacing so give the clasps a little more strength.

I clipped the curve before I turned them right side out..

Here are my 5 sewn, now to work out the finishing clasps...

I tried using these great pressstuds. I used to use them on my children's clothes when they were little. BUT.... The flannelette & towelling was too thick for it to work.
Unfortunately I banged my finger itch the hammer.
Instantly my nail was black... boy it hurt...

So I decided to use standard sew on press studs.
These were out of my bag of goodies from my mums stash.
When we cleaned out her home I couldn't throw anything out because I knew one day I would use them. Here we are 3 1/2 years later they are getting used...
Look at the old price on them. We stopped putting price tickets on stock about 25years ago... 43cents... Amazing..
Here they are finished after I sewed the press studs on.
Green towelling one side and boy flannelette..
I got 5 made out of a strip that was 30cm wide by 1 metre...

Making BANDANA BIBS

Before our next visit with our new granddaughter I made some bandana bibs. These are the "in thing" at the moment. Well, have you seen the price of them. A friend of mine has recently had a granddaughter too and she has made these. She gave me her pattern. They went together so easy. I have just had my over locker serviced after it has sat in the cupboard for 10 years with not being used. So what better task to give it a good workout.
The best thing is I searched my stash and didn't need to buy anything. BONUS....
I found this fabric, used a scrap of wadding and found a piece of flannelette for the back...
Cute fabric, basted with the template drawn on in frixion pen...
Then I got to the sewing. Within an hour and a half I had 9 bibs completed. Basted, pattern drawn, overlooked and Velcro stitched on... Well worth it. These will become a basic item for any baby gifts I give in the future. They were super easy...... I reversed some so they weren't all the same pattern...
With the wadding in them hopefully they will absorb a little more dribble.
Cute bandana bibs
I will see what the DIL thinks of them before I make more in case I need to make some alterations.
I used Velcro dots for the fasteners and I am not sure that they will be good enough. Time will tell..

But look at these gorgeous guys.
