Missing posts and Happy New Years

Okay, so I have missed quite a few posts this year.

I never got around to doing anything to do with an impromptu visit to Scrub Stitchin in April. The theme was winter in the warrumbungles . I decided to make the solar system as it is an area for star gazing.

And of course, the group photo.

There were some great outfits. Here was Chooky

And Janice.

I took a lot more photos but you probably have seen many earlier in the year.

Here was Tony at a cafe on the way home.

It was a huge trip for us and we took a while to get over it but thanks Chooky for accomodating us. Thanks to everyone else for their help with Tony too.

We look forward to 2026 Scrub Stitchin’. The theme is ‘book week’.

Then we had a lovely visit from Betty & Kerrie before we headed off to Darwin. Thank you so much for the delicious jams and chocolates from Junee. We did enjoy them on our trip.

I’m sorry if I missed any others as it was a hectic year.

Chooky had a zoom today and it was great to see some bloggers I haven’t chatted with in a while. We did a lot of show n tell, discussed continuing Chookshed 2026 UFO challenge with Deana, lining old hinged tins, recipes, knitting, geckos, broken windows and so much more. Also what were we grateful for in 2025. The best part is we can do it all again tomorrow.

Hopefully I will make more progress on my clue 6 of BH mystery lupine & Laughter. Posts of these clue will be showing in January as will my tins.

Now I’m off to work on my 2026 UFO challenge list….

HAPPY NEW YEAR. LETS HOPE 2026 is a much better year.

Love to you all.

New Year’s Eve, Zoom, a finish for December and 2025 Challenge

First up is Zoom on New Years Eve

Thanks Chooky for  a few last minute zoom days.

https://chookyblue.blogspot.com/2024/12/chookshed-stitchers-end-of-year-stitch.html

It has been a great time spending with crafty ladies on zoom. I have achieved so much in the last 4 days than 4 months.

So, there was much chatting about so many topics with so many friends. Here goes.

Second was a finish.

I have been knitting these teabag scarves for a while now. Sometimes the stitches fall off the end of the needles. They are hard to pick up the stitches. I came across this pattern on Pinterest to make the perfect needle holder. http://thenomeknitter.blogspot.com/2015/05/tutorial-double-pointed-needle-keeper.html

I made a few of the sizes suggested but my friend doesn’t use small needles so I made a special one to fit 12” needles.

My Aqua quilt. I have all the rows up on the design wall. I have added another 2 rows because I really wanted a rectangular quilt and didn’t want much fabric left over so I worked out how to make a few extra blocks with the leftovers and have laid them out. Today I started sewing the rows together.12 blocks * 14 blocks. Each block measures finished 8”.

Now to finish sewing rows together another day.

And there is Chookshed Challenge 2025

Of course I am joining in. So here is my list…..
No. 1.  Xmas stitchery calendar… progress
No. 2.  Bookcase quilt… do some quilting on it.
No. 3.  Sashiko… Jane McDonald Cruise Quilt
No. 4.  Aqua quilt… backing and binding. (To be sent to quilters)
No. 5.  Placemats for charity/Maxine
No. 6.  Chandlers Cottage Advent envelopes
No. 7.  Red Dalmatian Quilt.. ( quilt it )
No. 8. Flip La K ruler bag. ( this wasn’t done in 2024 )
No. 9.  Farmers Wife quilt blocks progress
No. 10.  Project bags. Can never have enough…..

January’s number has been drawn.. It’s No. 6.
I get to continue with my Chandlers Cottage Advent envelopes.

I didn’t get to do many in December so I am looking forward to stitching some more in January.

Thanks Deanna and Chooky for coordinating this yearly challenge..
It’s not too late for you to join in too.
Go here.

My 2024 started out so well then there were a few hurdles to end the year with.
So let’s all say goodbye to 2024 and hello 2025.

What have I been doing - zoom - BH mystery - seafood

Well New Years started out great with a clean up of my sewing room and then a day on zoom with Chooky and other beautiful bloggers. It is so good we can all get together this way, in the safety of our own homes, happily sewing & talking away. Some are productive, others just need a chat.

Denice has a great post about it here

Chooky’s is here. Chooky also has all the links to the blogs for the people who have also joined in zoom time. Check out her side bar.

I am doing this years Bonnie Hunter mystery and am not a fan of flying geese. Having everyone chatting with me made my day sew much better.

I got all the clues cut out..

All the geese sewn & trimmed. There were sew many. I am glad they are done.

I did stop for a while and cook a delicious tea for hubby and myself.
Oysters, chillie & garlic prawns with some wine.

Welcome 2021. Thank you Chooky for ZOOM

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE.... LETS ALL WELCOME IN 2021
We can only hope for a better, healthier year. I can truly say it has started off well thanks to Chookyblue with getting us all together via ZOOM. If nothing else, we have learnt to communicate via ZOOM instead of getting together for our quilting gatherings and retreats. ZOOM has connected us with overseas quilters and bloggers. It has been amazing actually talking with bloggers that we would normally only comment on blogs or email. Putting a face and voice to the blog person has been wonderful.
Over the day, from 7 am- 10 pm, we had about 20 ladies join in from AUS, USA, CANADA, GERMANY, NZ & FRANCE. The topics discussed were varied and I was asked to put up my Easy ( non traditional ) Xmas steamed pudding. It is great for diabetics as you can add any dried fruit you like. It doesn't have flour or sugar and is made in just over 2 hours. I actually make it, cut it into portions, then freeze it. It is then ready any time I need a quick yummy dessert.
This is what it looks like before cooking.
Then after cooking
Now what was I sewing. Well I had an amazing day. The last Zoom we had I said to Deana that I would get the quilt she designed quilted. It was a SAL but I didnt make the full size or design as what she had designed. Check out the pattern here. I can't seem to get the link to work so have a look at dreamworthyquilts.blogspot.com and search for QUILTERS GARDEN ROW QUILT. Deana is selly this pattern on Etsy too. Yes I got it quilted.
The binding is on and I am hand stitching the back side down.
Then I spent the later part of the day trimming and adding the borders to Bonnie Hunters FROLIC 2019 Mystery quilt. It is now a completed top ready for quilting.
One discussion was about what happens on new years day will happen throughout the year. Well I am off to a productive year. Let's bring on 2021 and let me continue on a great, fun, sewing year. Have a great day planning the restof your sewing year with friends.... Can't wait for the next ZOOM. Thanks everyone for sharing on their blogs and following me, It is greatinspiration and helps the soul...

2020 A NEW YEAR

Pulling out the corded bag and crocheting a new bag.
This is going well.

Unfortunately this is over a year old, closer to 2, and I still don't like it so it has now been pulled out...

Time for a new year, a new project.

Happy New Year and En Provence Clue 6

After my daughter and her boyfriend and our beautiful grandsons have driven away this morning, heading home, until next time I spend New Years Eve sewing away with Bonnie Hunters Mystery Quilt part 6..... I feel so proud of myself for keeping up with each clue.... I can't wait for the final layout. It is very intriguing.
I did use this tutorial for a bit of help with these quarter square triangles. I am a visual person. There are a lot of tutorials out there. This one actually showed it in the same colour layout as Bonnies. It was easier for me to follow.

Happy New Years to everyone and lets get sewing

Hi everyone and a HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.
I have been away for the weekend on our maiden voyage with our new Basil bus.
We had a quiet New Year's Eve. I didn't even see it in...
Then we packed Basil and off we drove. Friday saw us visit my brother, SIL and nephew in Tocumwal. Really enjoyed catching up with some stories, bbq and of course some drinks. We stayed the night in the dreadful heat but we managed. It's so hot......
On the road again and we had lunch in a cool pub in Wodonga... A few coldies were our medicine.
The drive took us to Tallangatta and we booked in to the local caravan park. Under a shady tree and overlooking the lake we set up camp. Boy was it hot... I think about 42 deg..

It was nice to just sit but I don't really handle the heat too well. Luckily we had a fan that was on us all night. We watched a movie then off to sleep.
The next day we had a beautiful brunch at Taste cafe in Rutherglen. What a lovely little town. Then kept driving to visit our daughter and grandsons in Mansfield. We stayed the night at the caravan park. Sitting under the verandah, legs in the kiddies pool and enjoying a drink. How relaxing does that sound... Good but the heat was still with us.
During the night was woken by a great crash and bright light. Thunder and lightning storms. It was loud. Took the real heat off the area but not all of it. Slept til about 9am then back to the grandsons and breakfast. Packed up and set off home.
How nice.... I have done all the washing, unpacked and repacked Basil. Had a nana nap, cooked tea and am now enjoying the refreshing 22 degrees.
Catching up on all the blogs. I did manage to read a few while I was away but no comments. I have also sat down and done a little slow stitching on this Sunday so will link up with Kathy too.
A great way to finish this long weekend and to start off the new year.....

My Hexies have gone from this.....
To the next step and plan a few more
Making progress
 And my Hexie is finished
This is a project we were handed out at the XMAS break up party with the Heathcote quilters.
We are to make 1 of these Hexies. If you hand 1 in you get a ticket in the draw. The winner gets all the blocks made. Then you need to decide what to do with them.
I have enough fabric and designs to make 4 so I will be slowly working on them. I'm not sure when they have to be done by.
Hope to catch up with all of you in Blogland over the next day or two....
