Hello, it has been a while. I have had a bit of the ‘can’t be bothered’ mood.
I got my quilt back from Jackson and it is amazing. So much fun with the little fishes quilted in and so many bubbles. I love it

I have been working on my Storm at Sea quilt. We were travelling to the retreat in Ali small bus so I couldn’t take too much with me. I had to be very careful with packing. Don’t forget I had to pack a heap of gifts that were purchased for the retreat too. So my decision was storm at sea which was already cut out with the go cutter and would take some time to sew up and finish.
My decision was made. This is what I started with.
Hi everyone. I am going to be playing catch-up over the next couple of posts. I have had a good and not so good month and have not done anything to do with sewing. So now I will start with.
WHERE AM I AT WITH MY SAS.
I have turned both corners and it is looking good.
I got another row sewn together and another block laid out ready to sew but that has been put on hold until Scrub Stitchin. I think this is what I will be working on as everyone there wants to see it for show n tell.
Also ready for scrub Stitchin is this little pin cushion/clover clip holder. Last year when I was there Chooky gave me a pattern to try. Well, I finally got around to it. It was a tiny log cabin, paper pieced block. What to do with it stalled me but that is sorted now.
I dug into my scrap basket.
Started to sew.
Finished the block and removed the papers.
A pin cushion was made.
Then my clover clips added, ready for my sewing bag to take to Scrub Stitchin. The pattern wasn’t wasted. It measures 5” finished.
Thanks Chooky
I think I need to take stage by stage photos of my SAS to keep me inspired.
It is a very long project that I could easily loose interest in.
Ok… I have the ship block done - now to make the corner par to join it to. Here are the cut pieces laid out.
Now sewn into a corner block
Next are the sides blocks of the ship.
The left hand side
The right hand side all laid out.
And stitched
Then I sewed them all together. BUT OOPS. I think I forget the lower left hand pieces of the border.
I am slowly moving along with my Storm at Sea quilt. All my pieces for the next row are laid out.
Do you see Dory swimming around. Well she got a bit confused. The seas must have been a bit too choppy and she got knocked about.
Swimming upside down.
So I had to have Jack Sparrow visit me. He got it sorted for me.
Dory is back to normal now so I could move on to the next blocks.
Can you see the stars across the top and the beginning of the first right star at night.
Ok. I have been working on my next SAS block. I had made the little ship block a while back but needed to make it up to a 12” block. I have had it laid out ready to sew. Started piecing. This first part took longer than expected. I had skipped stitches, loose threads and other issues. I rewound my bobbin, changed thread, changed needle and tried again. It seemed to be better now.
So I continued on and completed the block.
But there were rocky seas with the piece next to the ships sail. It didn’t look right. So I spent half hour with jack sparrow
Then another half hour restitching to get to this. I think it looks much better. You can now see the ship and sail much better.
How fun is Limo swimming around. Here the blocks are together. Now to get the last sailing ship ready in its 12” block.
I have laid out the last ship block ready to sew.
