More wildlife and our last MEAL together on this trip.

A Possum up a tree above where we were sitting. He got the last of our bread. We enjoyed sitting there watching him eat.

WOW, what a dinner. Roast beef, mash and fried up veggies.. YUMMY.

Look at this camp fire and dinner is cooked.
A roast meal fit for a king and we were feeling like kings and queens that night.

A cute little echidna waddling on the side of the road...
The last day of our trip was extremely bad dust storms, thunder and lightning.
We decided to stop an hour from home and treat ourselves to a night in a motel, a feed at a club and a great nights sleep.
Refreshed the next morning for the hours drive home, unpacking and a trip to the grocery store.
Then back to work the next day.

MORE ANIMALS AT AUSTRALIA ZOO

AUSTRALIA ZOO ANIMALS

GIANT TURTLE

WOMBAT
This guy is so solid.

KOALA
These guys are so cute

I just love watching the koala..

Here is a BROLGA
Remember back in a past post I mentioned the brolga.
The funny story that passers by were calling it a flamingo. Well, it definitely isn't pink..

CROCODILE
The situation in the rain is more dangerous so the guys didn't get too close to them.

AUSTRALIA ZOO

Well, we made it to Australia Zoo.
It was amazing. I think the best zoo I have been too.
The enclosures were just so natural.
It was the only day of our trip that it rained but the show went on.

Rhinos are so amazing. They just wandered the grounds in the same enclosure as the giraffes.

I just love watching Meerkats. They are so funny and make me laugh.
Look how tall they stand.

Silos

Look at the great pieces of art that are turning up all over the country.

THALLON SILO MURAL

Location: Thallon, QLD

Another beauty in a small central western town of Coonamble, in NSW

In Coonamble, the town’s 26m water tank was turned into an art work recenlty by Lightning Ridge artist John Murray, Bob Barrett and local Coonamble resident and Aboriginal painter Sooty Welsh.

Currumbin Birds

These pheasants were so funny to stand and watch. There was a few of them and they were chasing each other around the enclosure.

I just love the colours that's are so bright and pretty.

My husband stood for a while watching these lovelies perched on a branch.

Look at this beauty

Currumbin wildlife

This emu was so friendly. They have got so used to the visitors feeding them that they just come up to you and follow you. My brother had a bit of fun with it.
These lizards were fun to watch. They can move really fast.
Echidnas ar so cute. I stood there for a while watching him waddle around his enclosure

This is a tree kangaroo. I've never seen one of these before.

I have seen crocodiles in the wild and I wouldn't want to be in the water with them. They are so big.

I just love watching the Koalas eat. They are so cute.
It is the only animal that I didn't get to see in the outback. Oh well a wild life park will have to do.

Kuranda

We had a beautiful Skyrail trip in the gondola and now it's time to walk the streets, look in the shops and enjoy the market.
A fun & exhausting day and then we will be back on the train.

Great art work in the pavement.
A chainsaw chain and a horseshoe.
Very creative.

Look at these statues.
Brolga, Cassowary & Kangaroo.
So funny

Here is my brother having a great laugh.

We have had the best day together.

In a cable car, going up over the tree tops.
What a beautiful sight.

Look at the stunning views.

It was beautiful to see the Falls and Gorge from the air and train.
This was a wonderful day out.

Termite mounds

I know these weren't the biggest termite mounds we saw when we were on the train trip but you can't just stop anywhere. RIGHT....

WRONG!!

The driver had heard of this mound but never really stopped to see it.
As there was only 12 of us on the last part of the trip he pulled the train up and off we hopped.
Into the bush a little and look what we found.

Someone had dumped a motor bike on a mound and the termites just kept building around it. It is stuck in there well and truly.

A funny site off the beaten track.

We were also told that studies now show that termites have the same inside functioning of the cockroach family so technically are not really ants...

COBBOLD GORGE

This is the 4W bus that picked us up from our accomodation and took us to out little boat trip through the gorge.

The greenery growing amongst the rocks.

It was so peaceful sitting in the little boat.
Even all of us didn't want to talk. We were all whispering.

Stunning views riding through the gorge.

The only way to work out where we are is to take a photo of the sign

UNDARA Volcanic Tube Caves

These are caves made by the lava that has erupted from volcanoes.
They were amazing the way it was formed.

These caves were so big. You can just see a person in the photo above. It gives you an idea of the size.

It is an amazing place to visit.

Chillagoe Marble Caves

Headed for CHILLAGOE
Here is our Bus driver/tour guide and host for the evening. Caroline is also a wildlife carer. Look at this very young kangaroo being feed. Ever so cute.
Heading off for a tour underground in the caves. The Aboriginals never went in the caves as they thought there were deaths in there so we're scared to enter.... or so we were told .

There were a lot of large spiders, cock roaches, bats and other life in these caves. It was so black without our torches. I wouldn't want to be in there alone.

Here we are inside the cave. You can make many carvings/pictures out of the mites. Here we are about to be gobbled up by a skull.

Love my boots too. I had to wear them on the uneven ground to protect my ankle. I didn't want to risk another break.. I'm so glad I went for safety rather than fashion..

This was a marble mine that was being worked on.. Then they hit a natural spring which caused problems. It never drained and dried so they couldn't get their machinery in to extract the marble so it is just left there.
Most of our marble is sold overseas to China.. A funny story about our government. When they were refurbishing Parliament House they bought all the Marble in from China.. So we, Australian Government sold marble to China then bought it back again for their building.
What a waste of money, time and handling. Lucky China...

Look at these amazing stalectites and stalecmites.. This cave was amazing.

This is a sweet little town...
