Sewing with my grandsons

We had our grandson sons visit. So I taught them to have. A play with the sewing machine. They loved it.

They were just playing around with scraps. There is an idea going around. If they come again and want to continue we will have some finishes.

They did a really good job.Not bad for 10 & 12 year olds….

An overdue post

this post is a month over due...
My daughter came for a visit last month. We had a great time and I finally got to meet the boyfriend.
We went out for lunch, did the tourist things, had a laugh, enjoyed the grandsons and all had fun together....
Kristy went to the speedway with her boyfriend, Damien and Nicholas. Xavier stayed home and we made chocolate mousse. We enjoyed it together.

We also all went on a river cruise together. Yep, on an old Paddle steamer. On board the MELBOURNE... It was fun...

It's hard getting a good photo with the boys.

Here it is so far....
Here is CHASE and the 4 corner blocks

This is what Xavier is in to now so let's make him happy...
I am designing up the dog, CHASE, in the centre and the smaller blocks in each of the corners.
The applique is now done. I am working on piecing the top today and will quilt it tomorrow.
I will put up finished photos soon.

A visit from my daughter and grandsons...

We had a great day today. A soak in the spa, a walk, lunch, another soak in the spa and then a rest.
Who is the king of the castle.  NICHOLAS is.
Nicholas was happy but poor Xavier was scared of the big tank.
Nicholas showing off the jumper I just made for him...
Proud mum with Xavier clinging to her. It's not very often she gets a photo with the boys.
Just to show the size of the plane for the boys.

Happy sewing and some finishes

My youngest grandson needed a library bag.,of course I can make it....
When I was out in Geelong I saw this great SPIDER-MAN fat quarter. So here it is finished.
Xavier didn't put it down. The smile on his face says it all. He took it to kinder and showed it for SHOW and TELL. He was so proud....

I saw this fun idea on Pinterest. Just loved it.... I thought I would give it a go and here it is...
Look at the cool place for the pencil

The inside of the journal. Well actually it is really a note book. Opening upwards instead of sideways.

So another 2 projects to link up for OPAM.

Lap quilt link ups

This week over at Vals the link up topic is LAP QUILTS.

I have done quite a few lap quilts but I came across this photo of my grandsons watching TV and ready for bed.
They were curled up under my sons quilt and crocheted blanket.
This quilt was my first curved seam quilt and it was all done by hand. I think it was my 3rd quilt I had made. I made this in the year 2000. It was for his 6th birthday.
Unfortunately you can only see the back....
They are always using my quilts and I am so happy to make them, for them to be thrown about and then washed over and over.

Well I thought I'd get out the quilt and take some photos of the front

And here is a close up of the hand quilting. It is in the ditch around all the yellow roads.

I call this quilt ROAD GAMES.
My son used it all the time with his matchbox cars as a play mat and then as a quilt to cuddle under.

Here is another post about this comforting quilt.

There are many other quilts here to look at......

Quilt in the mail & some secret XMAS stitching

I was baby sitting my grandsons and took them XMAS shopping and then had sushi for tea. I let them play outside at the shopping centre before we came home. It was a warm night and they had fun
We got back home, got the boys bathed and a dvd was put on for them to watch.
Of course I sewed.

I have started on some secret stitching. A XMAS gift or 2.
Here are the designs finished but what will they be sewn into????

I have cut out and drawn a few more things out ready to work on for slow stitching Sunday.

I have made the laundry bag to go with the Dragonfly quilt and I have sent it to our AUSSIE Hero
