A great time sewing on zoom

Friday afternoon a message came through there would be a Chooky zoom for FNSI.

Yes, I am home and haven’t done any quilt sewing for months. I’m joining in.

I pulled out this project. I had already paired them up and drawn on the diagonal lines to sew on.

Now to sew two lines on each one.

All sewn together.

That was it for Friday night. It all started again early Saturday morning. I was a bit later.

Now give them an iron and start to cut down the centre.

All cut down the middle.

And ironed open nice and flat.

Trimming down to 8.5”

Putting them in their piles so I can work out a pattern. I do not even know how many blocks I have. I just cut as many as I could from the fabric I had.

All the trimmings are building up.

Thanks Chooky and all the other girls for making my day a great one. It was so good to have the chatter all while managing to do some sewing.

Spotlight sit n sew..

I have been a bit distant lately and now it is time to catch up. I haven't  sewn for quite a while.

Our group had a sit n sew at our local SPOTLIGHT store.
There were 7 of us for up to 4 hours. Sitting sewing, chatting, knitting and talking to customers.
It was a good day.

As you can see I was working on the baby quilt from the ones I have shown finished.

My FRIDAY SEWING

I have had a good, hot, long day sewing with friends. Actually it was with the Kilmore Quilters all day sit n sew. 10am-10pm..
I didn't know what to take with me to work on. I go into my workroom and have a look around. I grabbed a box with a long time UFO in it. There were parts of 3 projects using the same fabrics. All the fabric is in there. Enough for borders, backing and binding. All the blocks had been done. I just had to work out how to put it all together.
How do I make a quilt with these

There were crossroads to Jehrico blocks originally made when I was in the Sunbury group. Each block was made by a member in the group. As with any group project all the blocks turn out different sizes. Once trimmed square there was 1/2" difference btween them. I added purple borders to them to make them up to 12" blocks.
The smaller blocks were from an online SAL...  I added corner triangles in the background fabric to the blocks to make them up to size.
Blocks all measure 12" now

and then there were the filler blocks. Hour glass and half square triangles.
I got them all to fit together and I am so happy with it.
Blocks joined with the filler blocks

Then I got the borders added.
Ready for quilting

On Monday I will get it basted ready for quilting..
This is also a project on my UFO resolutions list...
I got to it sooner than expected but I do have a special person in mind to give it too.

FNSI report

Friday night was spent at the Kilmore Quilters sit n sew and pizza night.
There were 16 of us happily sewing away and all talking together.
We really did enjoy ourselves.
Here we are busy at work...

The pizzas have been delivered

My quoting had to stop so I could eat.... Look at the beautiful Bow Tie quilt in the background

I am making some bags for XMAS presents. I finished up with 7 quoted ready to sew together and got 2 assembled.... More work on them tomorrow.

I started my FNSI at lunch time and caught up on my LITTLE LETTERS.
The next pattern will be on Sunday and it is 'W'.......
I am making the letters in 3 colours so will end up with 3 cute baby quilts....

Get the patterns here.....

I have had a very productive day.......

Linda Steele Crazy Patchwork Workshop

Last week I did a days workshop over at Kilmore Quilters with Linda Steele.
I first saw her work on a needlework cruise I was on at the start of the year.
We cruised around New Zealand.
Linda Steele does amazing Crazy patchwork. This is something I really haven't done much of before. We were shown lots of embroidery stitches, with different threads and lots of techniques.
We had a really good day.
I am doing a journal cover.
I still have a lot of homework to do....

Marcus a Fabrics Sew Along

Today I had a great time at a Sit n Sew day at Kilmore.
Here is what I worked on...

I have been following Pam from Heartspun quilts and her sew along over at

Every Friday a new pattern was put up. I have done completely different colours and am happy so far. I had these purples already and wanted to use them up.
I have only done the first two blocks so far. They are easy to do so it won't take too long to catch up now my fabrics have been chosen.

Week 1.... Pam Buda's block.
Union Forever

Week 2.....
Paula Barnes' block
