Finished quilts --- 2 baby quilts and cuddle bunnies FINISHED

I've been busy knitting and sewing some baby quilts for my brother to give as gifts.
2 knitted cuddle bunnies.

And I even had matching labels...

These are the 2 lovely, cuddly baby quilts finished withtheir matching cuddle bunny.
These were knitted with chenille yarn.

We went for a drive to deliver them to my brother.
The drive was 450 kms each way.
So a drive there, out for dinner, stay over and then home again the next day.

While sitting having our morning coffee a little friend had a rest on the fence.

Baby boy and girl quilts nearly done.

I wasnt feeling well when I first got up Saturday morning so I went back to bed for a nap. Got up at 11.30 and did some grocery shopping. Came home and sat about not really too well. I just read some blogs and watched tv.. once again I was falling asleep so off for another sleep. Woke up hungry and ate. I finally felt like I was awake at about 10 pm...
Hubby was away for the weekend so I focused on the 2 baby quilts I need to finish this month.
I managed to get the tops done and I'm started. posting this from my bed at 3.35 am - Sunday
Here is the boys one .... ( sorry about the lighting but given the time I can't do much about it).
And the girls one
I want to quilt them when I get up. I hope I feel bettter...Otherwise it will be next weekend when I get back to them...
I GOT THEM BOTH QUILTED ON SUNDAY.

Simple quilting design.

Baby quilt Finishes

I've had a good few days sewing. Quilting and binding.
I had so much fun quilting this ABC quilt. I made it larger than the basic pattern by adding alternating blocks of a cute story book fabric.

My boss and his wife had a gorgeous little girl yesterday and this was what I gifted them.
They have a 2 year old who just loved it. He can learn to read with all the letters. I laid out the alphabet the same way we learnt to sing them.
It is so bright and cheerful.

This one measures 40" * 51"

This is a super cute Forest design measures 44" * 58"
It started as a panel with 4 prints but I left one out as it's colour was just too pink.
Then I strip pieced coordinating fabrics and cut to make fit.
Very happy.

I love this bee fabric so I just bought 1/2 metres and 1 metre lengths.

This quilt measures 39 1/2" * 59 1/2"

The happy trio.

That's a total of 14.80 metres / 584" of binding

Lake Cullulleraine Quilting Retreat

Oops, I think I got the dates to post wrong . Oh well it's a double post time.
Anyway, this was our view while on retreat. The pelicans are resting on the fence.

The sunset is beautiful over the lake.

My little letters , abc quilt, is now basted for quilting..
I am very happy with this one.

I got the outside rows on to my bow Ties quilt. It now measures 80" square.
Now for basting and quilting.

And what I got done on the weekend.
2 baby quilts cut, sewn & basted...
1 ABC, LITTLE LETTERS, baby quilt finished the blocks, stitched together & basted.
Thanks to Sheryl at
For the pattern

Retreat baby quilt sewing

I saw this beautiful panel at Spotlight. It is for cushions or wall art.
Found the fabric to go with it.
Then time to think.
Luckily all the fabric was 40% off.

When we got it home and really looked in better light the top left was really pink against the peace colour in the other fabrics. So a decision was made to leave it out.

This was a little bit of work but I got there in the end.
It was a challenge as I had a size in mind that I wanted.
I got there in the end.
Just needs binding.

I just love making this design.
Using 2.5" strips, and 2 borders on each block.
LOVE THE BEES.

Haha.. We have changed our minds with some colours and the baby is a girl.
Off shopping again.

Time for girly stitching

It's girly time now.
2.5" strips just makes everything easier and quicker.
It's amazing what you can get out of the smallest pieces.
And it is all quilted and bound.

My friend was very happy with them.
I'm on a roll.
I have another 2 to get started on and finished quickly.

First finishes for 2015

I have had the tops done for my 3 LITTLE LETTERS baby quilts for a few weeks now..
The patterns are by Sheryl at
Sheryl put out the patterns twice a week so I slowly followed along.
Today I quilted them all.
I tried a new quilting design that I have seen on some blogs lately. I had fun with it.
This is such a great quilt for a baby..

This pink one has an off centre spiral. It was done using only the foot spacing. It is quilted heavier than I normally do but I think it looks good.
This will be a present for a friend this month..

You can't really see the green letters with this photo but they are pretty
I started the spirals small and moved out to a larger spacing. I am happy with it.

Here are all 3 hanging together.

And the backings were a great bargain. 2 were from Ballan when I was there on retreat. The other one  I have had for a while. They all have the alphabet on them so they were a perfect choice.

Next on today's list was some bags. My mum was giving these knitting Nancy kits to a family with 3 children. She wanted a bag to store all the pieces together with some wool.
A drawstring was used for ease.

Because there was 3 children I decided to make an extra work in progress bag for each of them. At telecast then they store there work all together without leaving a mess for their mum or losing anything.
I hope they are happy with them.

I am not sure if I will make some more of these quilts but maybe. They were fun and a great baby quilt

Another job done

Another quilt has been quilted for a friend of mine. She had a go herself but found it too hard on her shoulders and back. So I have done it for her. I did it similar to the last little kids one.
All over with stars and loops with scattered animals. It has turned out really cute. All she has to do now is stitch on the binding.

The light inside was a bit dark with the gloomy days we have been happy but I was able to get the photo on the line before it rained again.

Heathcote's WIP baby quilt

Part of being a member of a quilt group is to help out where & when needed.
We have our quilt show coming up at the end of the year so we are working on the raffle quilts.
We have a larger one being done and this little beauty.
A cute little baby quilt.
The embroidered blocks were donated.
A few of the ladies pieced the blocks together.
Fun quilting with a giraffe, rabbit, whale & dolphins

Then I added a dog, cow, pig, horse & birds

Next to come was a cat, sheep & an elephant.

Then to add some framing colour I did a double binding of blue and orange.
I hope the girls like what I have done.
All that is left is to finish the binding.

This is my.    WIP WEDNESDAY project today.
I'm also linking to VALS QUILTING STUDIO for Archive Tuesday FMQ...

Cute baby quilts

I made some little girls quilts for charity. I'm sure they will go to good use.
They measure less than 24"
