Impromptu zoom with Chooky

Friday night after work Chooky sent out an invite to a zoom meeting. I was so tired, sitting in my pj’s and watching tv. I quickly jumped up, started tea, grabbed my Xmas fabric tub and joined in.

While we were chatting away I cooked and ate tea. Then moved on to some class preparation.

Our quilt group make a Xmas decoration every year and even though we are in lockdown we are doing one again this year. We were to meet in the park today to be shown how to finish it but that is now postponed.

We needed to prepare 2 strips of Xmas fabric with fliesofix  in the centre to make it a reversible fabric.

I cutout the bell shape in template plastic and traced the pattern 8 times on to the fabric. Cut them out. Now I am ready for the class.

I have found the beads and ribbon. Now it’s time to pack my bag so I’m ready for when we can meet in the park to finish it off. I won’t forget to pack the needle and thread too.

Thanks Chooky for the catch up.It made me get this ready

Christmas decorations & gift making day.

I haven't been doing much sewing lately. There has been a little secret sewing which I cannot show yet as some that read my blog are in the same group as me and read my blog. Anyway, today I made my little gifts for work colleagues. I like to hand out something little to spread some cheer. I found this little origami decoation on Pinterest and thought it a great idea to put in a Ferrero Rocher chocolates in them.. I started with a 6" piece of scrapbooking paper
Then I folded it in every direction following the tutorial.
I made plenty more.
now they all have the chocolates in them, the loops attached & all glued together. 40 in total..
I think these look so cute and will go down a treat.
Now to get organised to start another post if this one works ok.....

Xmas tree decorations

I took a class at my local quilt group. Each year they decorate a tree at the Visitors Information Centre. I chose to show how to make these cute Santa heads, sewn by machine.
I foundation pieced them and they were so quick to make.
The tree will look lovely.

AND THESE XMAS WREATHS ALL HAND STITCHED.

This covered everyone in the group that wanted to make them and join in on the fun..

These are made with wooden curtain rings, 6 Suffolk puffs, some ribbon and some felt.
How pretty do they look.

These decorations will look great hanging on the Tree.
Or they are really good gifts too.

Aussie Hero laundry bags & a Xmas decoration

I'm going to be holding a workshop in January making Laundry Bags for Aussie Heroes.
I made some samples for show n tell.
This one is using left over blocks from the mystery quilt. A matching bag will go down well.

Then I made one using one fabric just to show

Here one made a while ago with leftover blocks again..

Now it's time to get into the Xmas mood and start making decorations.

Another Christmas Lunch

I enjoyed a great day out with my Heathcote quilt group. As you can see by the photos there was a few of us sitting around chatting. We had a lovely meal at the HEATHCOTE WINERY. A beautiful roast then a very sweet pavlova. The weather was just lovely.

We did do a little Xmas gift swap. You put a parcel in and you get one out....
It was to be a little Xmas decoration..
This is what I got and I will definitely be making some of these next year...
A felt dove stitched on the machine and beads added..

I put in a Santa face, a stitchery hanger and a dishcloth

( I must say that I am having trouble with my photo program lately. It was easy for me to get my photos up and edit them then add them to my blog. Well it's not so easy at the moment. My usual program has disappeared so I am doing my best with what I can find..)

What have I been doing

I have had a great quiet week at home. So one day I cleaned out my wardrobe. I filled the rubbish bin too. Why do we hold on to things that ar old, torn, stained and don't fit?  I don't know!!!!
I also spent 2 days outside weeding, digging out stumps, having a bonfire before the restrictions came in and just a general clean up.
Now for something fun
Catching up on some finishes. Getting things out of the cupboard and stitching.
So here I have 24 finishes for OPAM......

Put them in with a dishcloth and my little gifts for those unexpected moments are ready.

Now to finish these decorations.

I have my parcel wrapped for tomorrow's friendly group at Gisborne...
It's a mini Xmas Swap...
What will I get....
