Oops, I think I got the dates to post wrong . Oh well it's a double post time.
Anyway, this was our view while on retreat. The pelicans are resting on the fence.

The sunset is beautiful over the lake.

My little letters , abc quilt, is now basted for quilting..
I am very happy with this one.

I got the outside rows on to my bow Ties quilt. It now measures 80" square.
Now for basting and quilting.

And what I got done on the weekend.
2 baby quilts cut, sewn & basted...
1 ABC, LITTLE LETTERS, baby quilt finished the blocks, stitched together & basted.
Thanks to Sheryl at
For the pattern

Bow Ties needs more

I have finished the rectangular Bow Ties but I think it needs more. So I will be adding an extra row on each side to make it square. This will make it 80" square.
OK need to get sewing another 20 x 8" blocks.

Bow Ties are tied together

This is where I am at so far with my bow Ties.
I am excited that it nearly is a top.
I started these bow ties back in May 2014.
It's about time they were finished

I am so glad I have worked out why my photos have been fuzzy.
This is much better.
I am loving my design wall.

I have now counted up the blocks, measure the quilt and have a pattern.
It measures 65" x 77".
I love it as it is and won't be putting any borders on it.

EDITED..... AFTER GETTING THE TOP DONE I WILL BE ADDING BORDERS TO IT..

Bow ties have been made and laid out

I have been working on this quilt for so long I just want to get it done.
The last of the 8.5" blocks sewn until the top is sewn together.
(I might add more)

All the 8.5" & 4.5" blocks on the table to start putting up on the design wall.

The top half laid out up on the wall.

Now to get sewing...
Once I have got all corners sewn I will decide if I want to make it longer..

Bow Ties as Leaders and Enders

While I have been getting back into my sewing I also have dragged out a UFO.
It's my 3d bow tie block/quilt.
I'm not following a pattern and am making it up as I go.
I am using this quilt as my leader and ended project.
I wanted a tunnel effect.
I started with 2" blocks for the centre.
Moved on to 4" blocks.
Now I'm filling the outer corners with 8" blocks.
I'm not sure if there is too much of a step up with this size. I'll have to wait and see.
It's already good measuring 5 feet across.
I'm wondering if I'll keep it square or go different and make it rectangular in shape.
I do prefer rectangular quilts.

Working with BOW TIES

I am quilting this amazing BOW TIE quilt. It is made with beautiful oriental fabric. Most of the fabrics have gold going through them.
I've started quilting the BOW TIES

It took me a while to decide on a quilting design that I was happy with. It sat for 3 weeks before an idea came to mind. Well, then it just happened. I got to work on. AFMQ pattern in each of the background blocks. Not sure if it really shows up but I am very happy with it....
FMQ design

The thread I am using is GLIDE and the colour SAND. I have not liked using gold or lures thread in the past so I was put into this friend from Anita. HILLSIDE QUILTING.
It is a beautiful colour with others in the range. The thread just glides through the needle and melts into the fabric. I definitely will be using this again.
GLIDE thread, colour SAND

Now I just have to decide how to quilt the borders
