Travelling home from my brothers.

I have had so much going on lately that not much sewing has been happening.

I am giving myself to Easter and then I can sew for a while..

A few things will be finalised, the hot weather gone and sewing will happen. I will catch up.

On the way home from our last trip to my brothers I noticed these.

We were on the freeway, so a little diversion and we found them.

A happy weekend away with my Husband and brother....

Wow... Spur of the moment hubby and I decided we needed some time for us. So, I get some time off work, pack a bag, make a few phone calls, jump on the bike and we are off.

We leave home at 7am & 30+ deg.. head for Wagga Wagga. Stop for lunch and a cold beer. Hours of riding in 40 deg heat. It's now 38 at 2pm.
And the best part was meeting my brother and catching up for the next few days together. Just to be out in the open air, on the bike, with my husband and brother. What is better than that.

Another hours ride we stop at Tumut, NSW.. 661kms today.

A bed, Thai dinner, a beer and a good sleep.

The rain set in for the night but slows for the day. 

Over the mountains and through Mt. Kosciusko National Park.

We stop at an emergency hut for a break.

Then off to my friends house.. Di, you are wonderful.
Merrimbula. NSW... East coast of Australia..
Total now is 1005kms.

Out for dinner, a good sleep, then head off again..
Oh no it's raining..
Visit the inlaws and dry off.
Then a long ride to the bottom of Victoria and head for Portsea.

After a good nights sleep we head off home.. and a little bit of shopping on the way.

I have finally found the way to Brim..
Seeing these silos painted in person is amazing.
We will be coming back here for a closer look.
They aren't that far from home.

Total for our 4 days was 2328kms.
So glad to get into our shower and bed...
Work tomorrow.

It will be a little while before I'm ready to head off on the bike again...

Oh no, not again

I am writing this post with so much sadness. For the people that have been following me since I started blogging and know me personally they will understand so much of my pain.
On Friday morning I got a phone call with the most horrible news. It was my brother who had been in Melbourne for the night. I had only spoken to him the night before.
His news was that there had been a fatal car crash in his home town and that it was his 24year old son.😭😭😪😪  My brother and his wife had the most traumatic train trip home that morning. I immediately got in the car and travelled the 2 1/2 hours to be with him.
As tragic as this is it was only just over 2 years that this happened to me with my son. To have to relive this week is so unbelievable and painful. I still cry everyday for my son but now I know he will be showing and helping his cousin the way. I know what my brother and his wife are going through. They are apologetic to me for having to go through it again. This week is so hard.
My mum is not well enough to travel and this is the third grand child she has now lost. Yes, my 2 brothers and I have now all lost a son.
Understandably I am not sewing, posting or commenting on blogs. I have read the odd few. I am not sure what will happen this week or where I will be but I know I do have everyone's support.

I am so sorry to make such a sad post but I need to express myself somewhere. Thanks everyone for the calls and texts so far.

Happy New Years to everyone and lets get sewing

Hi everyone and a HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.

I have been away for the weekend on our maiden voyage with our new Basil bus.

We had a quiet New Year's Eve. I didn't even see it in...

Then we packed Basil and off we drove. Friday saw us visit my brother, SIL and nephew in Tocumwal. Really enjoyed catching up with some stories, bbq and of course some drinks. We stayed the night in the dreadful heat but we managed. It's so hot......

On the road again and we had lunch in a cool pub in Wodonga... A few coldies were our medicine.

The drive took us to Tallangatta and we booked in to the local caravan park. Under a shady tree and overlooking the lake we set up camp. Boy was it hot... I think about 42 deg..

It was nice to just sit but I don't really handle the heat too well. Luckily we had a fan that was on us all night. We watched a movie then off to sleep.

The next day we had a beautiful brunch at Taste cafe in Rutherglen. What a lovely little town. Then kept driving to visit our daughter and grandsons in Mansfield. We stayed the night at the caravan park. Sitting under the verandah, legs in the kiddies pool and enjoying a drink. How relaxing does that sound... Good but the heat was still with us.

During the night was woken by a great crash and bright light. Thunder and lightning storms. It was loud. Took the real heat off the area but not all of it. Slept til about 9am then back to the grandsons and breakfast. Packed up and set off home.

How nice.... I have done all the washing, unpacked and repacked Basil. Had a nana nap, cooked tea and am now enjoying the refreshing 22 degrees.

Catching up on all the blogs. I did manage to read a few while I was away but no comments. I have also sat down and done a little slow stitching on this Sunday so will link up with Kathy too.

This is a project we were handed out at the XMAS break up party with the Heathcote quilters.

We are to make 1 of these Hexies. If you hand 1 in you get a ticket in the draw. The winner gets all the blocks made. Then you need to decide what to do with them. 

I have enough fabric and designs to make 4 so I will be slowly working on them. I'm not sure when they have to be done by.
