A few things happening in April.

I have a finish and it’s ready for Scrub Stitchin’. My binding is sewn. I love it too.

it looks so lovely laying on the green grass. The colours are so pretty.

I also have our sew along ready to piece together for Scrub Stitchin’.

too. Chooky and my adjusted Simply Serene.

And I have some secret sewing for Scrub Stitchin’.

too. Mmmm I wonder what is going on here!!!!!

I have been busy but I managed some PINK sewing for April.

too. This is a project I will work on soon. It will become a project bag with a clear plastic window front.

And I have these flowers popping up in my garden.

As for the Chookshed challenge # 10, mine was left as to do anything. This worked well and fits in perfect for Scrub Stitchin’. I have picked up a few new projects and a couple of old ones. I’ll choose at the end of the month to share more on my progress.

I am really looking forward to next week.

FNSI results....

FNSI.... after a nap, dinner and a couple of drinks I was in the mood for sewing.... This is what happened....
I worked/started on my SPLENDID SAMPLER blocks.... It was very hard for me to decide what fabric to use. I think I will go with scraps. I have so many of them. I am sure so many others have too much too. I might even put it towards an AUSSIE HERO QUILT......
Block 1.....was fairly easy to do. The hardest part was which way to applique...
So I decided on Machine Blanket Stitch....

Block 1... Splendid Sampler.....

Block 2..... Half square triangles and butterflies.
This is what I normally do.........
Well, when I use so many half square triangles, especially when they are small. I find it so much
easier to make 8 units at a time...
No Bias Edges at all.  I follow this tutorial and it has worked every time.
Even if I get left overs it doesn't matter. They go into another block eventually.....
Go and have a look here. But remember it does give you 8 half square triangles any size you want....

BUT NOT THIS TIME....
I have decided to use scrap fabrics and didn't want 8 the same colour fabrics. I found a bag of leftover ones already done... All I had to do was trim them to size....

Now all I have to do is the embroidered antennae.
Block 2 ..  Splendid Sampler ... Butterflies

On Saturday I found this little kit to make a purse. I started putting it together and am now sitting here doing a bit of hand quilting with perle thread...

Finish your quilted coin purse

Step 6.
Turn purse inside out and lay the ends flat so the binding on zip edge is touching flat NOT overlapping

Turn over binding and stitch down

All raw edges are now covered and sewn in.
There is nothing to fray or get caught in the zip.

WELL DONE.. YOU HAVE FINISHED

The zip is done in the coin purse STEP 5

The next step to do once the zip is in.
Neaten the inside and sew the zip down so you don't get it caught when opening & closing the purse.
If the zip doesn't reach the ends, THATS OK.
Just sew the edges together along the binding at the ends of the zipper.

The inside looks neat

Little purses......next step 3 & 4

Step 3: Now turn over the binding and hand sew it down on the inside.

Step 4: Now centre the zip & hand sew in. ( if you can & want to ..machine it in )
I prefer the hand sewn look.

They have arrived

Traci received her blocks, yes 3 blocks, today and a little gift purse.
She seems very happy with them.

Little purses for gifts steps 1 & 2

Here is the finished purse.

Step 1: quilt a piece of fabric & cut out the shape.

Step 2: make some bias binding from a 2" wide strip.
This must be cut on the bias to stretch around the curve.
Now sew to each end of the quilted fabric.

More steps to follow as I get to them.
