A little bit of knitting - dishcloths

I just wanted a change from sewing for a bit. Out came the knitting needles again. I have made many dishcloths over  the years and love this site.. Free, easy knitted dishcloths

I found 2 balls of this cotton and I think I might get 3 cloths out of it. I have fun looking for all the designs. Pinterest also has some great designs.

Yarn -- KNITTED DISHCLOTH

I still have some odd balls of 8 ply cotton to use up. I came across this fun dishcloth pattern so thought I'd give it a go.
It only took me a night to do, while watching a movie. It didn't even take the whole ball.

I will make more of these. They were fun.

The pattern is a free download from RAVELRY.
Design by THERESA L. JONES.

I might knit one in yellow because Feruary over at Angela's is YELLOW.

More knitting finishes

I have knitted some more Dishcloths. I tried this new cotton yarn I bought from the quilt show in Melbourne. It was good to knit with and knitted up thicker. It was equivalent to about a 10 ply. For $5  a ball it was good value. 2 dishcloths from 1 ball....
I have tried a new snowman pattern, then did more with words, flower shape ones and just plain ones.. There was another one but I have already gifted it....
Another 9 to add to my monthly finishes.....

ANOTHER CHARITY PROJECT

I received this email asking for help. With mums yarn of course I can help. I know it's short notice but I can do it. If you want to join in so can you....

I am knitting these squares using up 8 ply yarn. Working on size 4mm (no 8) needles and casting on 40 sts. This works lovely for my tension. Then to make sure the squares work out to the correct size my hubby made this blocking board. Old odd knitting needles from mums stash and an old piece of laminated board. Drill some holes, cut off the heads of the needles, poke into the holes.... Done....
Place knitted squares over the needles and push down. Spray with water and put on another one.
Leave a gap in between for air flow. Wait til the dry and you have a lovely square 20 cm (8") square.

What I have been sewing this week.

It is so nice to have a few days at home. Some time in my work room and then time inside for quiet work. I am involved in a few swaps so these gifts are ongoing. I need to be making something all the time. I leave the knitting, bindings and stitcheries for at night while I am watching TV and machine work for the day time out in my workroom.
I just love these Xmas stitcher you decorations.... Variety is good...

I was given some green cotton so I have been busy knitting up more dishcloths and trying new patterns. I am happy with how they have turned out.

Mmmmm working with green scraps. I can't show what they are for another month. I do love sewing up my crumbs though. Greens are so pretty...

And don't forget to sign up and join in on FNSI with WENDY this Friday night

And I have added in NTT

At home for the weekend

I came home from a lovely week away on  Friday and joined in on FNWF.....
It was a relaxing night doing some stitching and knitting..
Firstly, I sewed up all 12 of the dishcloths I made while I was away... They are great to go in the gift box & I just love using them myself. The new flower pattern was very quick and easy to follow. I am happy with the way they have turned out..
You can get the pattern from HERE

After they were done I went on with some little stitcheries that have been sitting around for a while. It's time to get them done..... They now need to be put into some cute decorations....

Then for some secret sewing.......

Grab a cuppa and have a look at what everyone else got up to...

Thanks Chez for the SAL......

My weekend continued with sewing binding, binding and binding on my AUSSIE HERO QUILT. This quilt is a QAYG. A new technique for me and lots of binding... A whole 676".....
I have been making these for a few months now and get great pleasure out of it. I find the challenge of new ideas is what keeps me interested....

So for slow Sunday stitching I am linking up with Kathy and many more...

And for Monday link ups have a look here

Shopping trip and what I'm up too

On a walk one day I saw this shop. The Material Girls.
Of course I couldn't keep walking so in I went.

And out I came with.... A Christmas pattern and silver thread for my spider webs...

Stop for a drink at the club on the way home... Little Xavier snuck into the photo and Nicholas was good enough to take our photo.

Bad to the unit to continue with my knitting and stitching.
Dishcloths, clam shells and little birdies..... What will they end up as.....

MY SANTA SACK SWAP

Back in June/July I signed up to be part of a SANTA Sack Swap.
http://santasackswap.blogspot.com.au
We were assigned a partner then had to go about making 5 handmade gifts and a stocking/sack or tote to put the gifts in. These had to be done and posted by 25th November and not to be opened until XMAS day.
How hard was that. Having lots of presents sitting around for all that time.......
Anyway, this is what I sent my partner, Mel.
http://pinnylea.blogspot.com.au

Here they all are ready to put in the Sack and post......

Here Is a sweet Mittens stitchery made into a table runner, 2 cotton knitted dishcloths, some tree ornaments and the large SANTA sack to put everything in.
Now someone else just has to fill it each year. How nice is that.......

A cute square bag, a fabric bowl filled with lollies and a hot chocolate drink pack, a double ended oven mitt and pot holder. I know Mel loves buttons so I gave her a pack of wooden XMAS buttons and then made her a button necklace. If she doesn't want to wear it she can cut the string and have lots of buttons to sew on her projects.

SLOW SUNDAY NIGHT

After a great day with other sewers yesterday I thought it best to have a slow night.
I thought I would link up with Kathy and the others
I decided to just sit, watch TV & knit more dishcloths.
I found this great pattern which is suitable for XMAS as well as other times of the year.
I was given some 8 ply cotton. Off I went. Click, click, clack.....

This was out of HANDMADE COUNTRY CHRISTMAS CRAFTS.. Vol 29 No 8...

Then one for my daughter with her initial on it. KKKKKKKKKKK.

Basic pattern from
http://www.woolshappenin.com/blog/?page_id=735

The pattern uses a thicker cotton than 8 ply. All I could find is 8 ply so that's what I used. Paired it up with size 3mm (11) needles and it measured up to the same size as all the others.
I did add an extra 10 rows above and below the initial as well as 5 sts either side of the initial.
