so Scrappy SATURDAY, I have been here

My Saturday last week was spent sewing these wonky star blocks. I didn't get them done in time for the link up but will catch up now. I have been so busy since Christmas and trying to catch up with life, swaps and my own sewing. I think I might nearly be there.
This year I have to learn  to say NO and not to over commit.... So here goes....
What I did during the week.
I continued on my WONKY STAR BLOCKS.
Here I am working on my block
Here is my BLUE one for the month of January. I am linking up with So Scrappy.
http://superscrappy.blogspot.com.au

I continued on with a yellow block and a red block. This gives me enough blocks to finish the quilt. I wanted to show these seperate blocks even though I have already shown the finished quilt the other day.

I have been making these blocks/quilts throughout 2014 and now continuing into 2015. I made 4 quilts for my sons closest girlfriends for their 21sts. It has been very hard but needs to be done. Everyone has to move on.
The labels on each qullt were personalised and are very touching. A few tears were shed when written and again when read. Memories will live on.

I am linking up with Soscrappy, Scrap Happy Saturday

It was with Angela's help and motivation that I managed to get all these blocks and quilts done. Thanks Angela for all your motivation..

The last 21st quilt

This is a very sad and hard post for me to make. Some that know me might need a tissue....
Here goes.
This week I have been getting organised for a special 21st party.
Firstly. We are going to a 21st that is a GATSBY 1920's dress up.
My daughter and I have had a great time shopping and planning for it.
It is hard in a way that the special girls party that it is was the girl my son spent his last day and night with before his accident. She has had a hard time coping with life as we have. She is such a sweet girl and I wish we had more time to get to know her. We had not met her before but have learnt more about her in the last 2 years.
This is the last wonky star quilt I have made and just finished quilting today.
It was quilted with hearts for their love/friendship and STARS for where JOHN is now.

I am sure that this quilt will be loved by someone who is so treasured.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALICIA.
We love you.

Scrap happy Saturday

I haven't participated in SCRAP HAPPY SATURDAY go quite a while.
I haven't done any RSC 14 blocks for months. I am so far behind.
My mum has been sick, my daughter has needed help and I have been so busy with 21st quilts....
Well here is a post to participate this week.
The other month was bright green fabric scraps so I worked on my Wonky star block.
I got another one done and added to my other blocks and put together a quilt for a special friend.
So here is my block made

My quilt top is done and on the frame for quilting.
I really only use this frame when I stipple a quilt or do an all over design.
I do not have the knowledge or confidence to do much more on it.

The quilting is done.

The binding is on and it is finished

And here it is done with the label on it for a special friend of my Son, John.
It is Haleey's 21st and I think she loves it.
I gave it to her on Thursday so I hope she gets great comfort from it.

My link up,today is with CHERYLL at......

Not the Browns of this month though... I hope I can catch up...

Also finishing some Xmas knitting. That will be another post.
Happy stitching everyone.
I'm finishing of some bindings and planning some more quilting.
All my work so far with my scrappy wonky stars.
There is also a quilt on the go for a friend who is need of some special attention and care.
And another quilt to get some FMQ in. I need lots of practice.

I also received some happy mail this week.
From my September partner Carolyn.
We are in a 6" block swap over at http://6inchblockswapsaustralia.blogspot.com.au.
Sue is away for the month so we got our partners early. These are what I received.

I have decided on log cabins. Black, brown & greys with a red centre. I am wanting to put this together with a male in mind. THINK MASCULINE.
These are my first blocks in this choice and I am happy.
Carolyn also added some HALLOWEEN fabric..
I am also getting these in the 12" swap too....

Scrappy Wonky Stars

This month over at Angela's at Soscrappy there is  SCRAP HAPPY SATURDAY going on. I have sat down and made 4 more wonky star blocks. The colour this month is RED. I need a quilt for a sweet friend of my son who just turned 21. The stars represent my son. So whenever she needs warmth she can wrap herself in this quilt and think of him... All the boys are getting the puzzle quilts, the girls will get a wonky star. I also got 2 more puzzle quilts quilted and the wonky star pieced and quilted. All have the binding attached so I can sit down on Sunday and start hand stitching it down and join in the fun with everyone over at KATHY's SLOW STITCHING SUNDAY
My blocks measure 18" square.

The quilts.
Wonky star measures 51" * 68"
Puzzle quilts measure 48" * 72"

After I got the bindings on I caught up on my RSC14 SAMPLER blocks over at Soscrappy.
The DONUT & HASHTAG block

I then realised I hadn't done my pink month for the bubble quilt. So here they are too.

I had an early start and a late night. I had trouble sleeping & it was freezing here. Instead of sitting and doing nothing I turned the heater up and put one DVD after another and sewed, sewed & sewed.
A very productive day......

Yellow scrappy blocks

My 12" block swap partner this month is Karen. We are members of QBSA and every month we get a new partner and swap a block of their choice with them. Karen wanted an Ohio Star with cream background, coloured points with a contrast centre.
As it is a Yellow month over at Soscrappy I thought that's what I would do.

Then I thought I would do this Framed 4 Patch block from the RSC sampler page that Angela puts up the patterns for.
I continued in my mellow yellow mood and sewed some wonky stars.
I do not have a lot of yellow so thanks to the girls in my Monday group for helping me out.
The funny thing is they thought I was mad using up my little pieces of scraps now they are doing it too. Here are my stars.

4 day retreat with friends PART 2

To continue with more sewing....

I was able to get another 7 Wonky stars blocks done to add to the collection.
I now have a total of  34 blocks out of the 48 I need.
Can't wait for the next month to start then we can get a new colour from Angela over at Soscrappy

We also had one of our members, Andrea, show how to make the 3d Bow Tie block. Quite a few ladies worked on these for the weekend.

I also worked on my Xmas in July Swap projects. I can't show you full pictures yet but here is a sample. I manage to get 1 finished, another ones machining done & the 3rd cut out and started.

Here  is all my little squares put together with more to come.
There is a nice range of fabrics that look great together.

A close up of some corners.
What is it?  Mmmmmmmmmmm

Then I have something with embellished stars

I'm seeing GREEN

I am still sewing away and have today been doing my WONKY STARS. I will be making different colour blocks to put together for my sons girl friends birthdays this year.

I still have those beautiful views.

And of course my friends dog GYPSY had to join in the fun.

These blocks measure 18" so I will only need 12 to make a nice size quilt. I am not adding a border....

I am linking up today with Angela at Soscrappy for SCRAP HAPPY SATURDAY

I have had a great day of sewing while my friend has been doing the cooking.
Look at these scales she uses every day. They are reat. I wouldn't know how to use them.

BRENDA's BLOCKS

I have done my blocks for Brenda this month very early. Brenda asked for any block any colour.
What a hard choice. You would think this would be easy but no.......
Oh well, this is what I posted.
THE 6" block swap is here...
The purple MOCK LeMoyne Star was for Soscrappy month,  Scrap Happy Saturday and RSC14 Sampler.
I am also making a lot of WONKY STARS for my RSC 14.
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

More BUBBLES

I got more bubbles done for my BUBBLE TREE done in this months colour.... PURPLE.
This is the colour Angela has chosen over at Soscrappy for the month of April.
Have a look at the great work others are doing  HERE on Scrap Happy Saturday.

Then I continued on and did some WONKY STAR blocks.
These measure 18".
I am making a couple each month and am unsure if I am going to use 9 or 12 blocks in a quilt.
Then I went off to visit my Father in Law in hospital. My next job was to baby sit my beautiful grandsons for the night while my daughter was at a wedding. So I packed my machine and continued sewing. I made 2 jewellery rolls...

Great day of sewing with friends

I got together today with my Monday girlfriends and sewed. We all sewed.
I have got them doing the wonky star block too.
We are all following the RSC14 colours of the month with Angela over at So Scrappy
March's colour is Aqua / Teal / Turquoise. There is blue - green or green - blue.
Which ever you decided they remind me of the sea. I couldn't decide which way to go so I did both.

6" blocks for "blankets of love"

I ended up doing a double swap this month over at Block Swap Australia.
My partner is Liz. Have a look at Liz's blog.
She keeps busy making "Blankets of Love" for charity. The blocks she receives in the swaps help her with this.. Here are mine.

But then I searched my stash of orphan blocks, sewed some out of my scrap bin & this is what I ended up sending her. Hope they will be put to good use.
