I have caught up with all the RED SAMPLER BLOCKS for the month of JULY..

The new colour for August over at http://superscrappy.blogspot.com.au is.  BEIGHT GREEN. I am struggling with this colour so as yet haven't done any blocks        .

Here are my last few blocks.

This one looks a little pink but it is red.

Now we are in AUGUST we are working on Bright, Pastel GREEN. NO DARKS ALLOWED  ........

I have my grandsons overnight and they turned up wearing the great jumpers my mum had made. My mum is recovering from cancer and many other things and has just got back into knitting. 

These jumpers are so good and the boys look so cute.

So we have eaten and now watching Harry Potter. The boys are happy and nearly ready for bed.

I am knitting lots of dishcloths. They are easy to pick up and put down, don't really have to count...

I have been at home sewing today. BUT first of all I had to clean my workroom so I could sit at the sewing machine. I started yesterday working out what I was going to work on. I am linking up with

I have been using up some 6" RSC14 sampler blocks from Angela's at http://superscrappy.blogspot.com.au

I put them into my WONKY STAR STRUCK blocks and completed a flimsy.

While I was making the blocks I have started a Leaders & Enders project with Bonnie Hunters  http://quiltville.blogspot.com.au/2005/06/string-spider-web.html quilt block.

And here is my flimsy. I think it looks great...

Scrappy blue day with a touch of RED

It's SCRAP HAPPY SATURDAY progress time.
I try to keep up with Angela over at Soscrappy and follow and make all the blocks she puts up in her RSC 14 SAMPLER.      WONKY GOOSE STAR BLOCK in scrappy reds.

I have done this months block for my 12" block swap partner Anna.

She wanted this BEARS PAW pattern

 Then I managed to get done my May-June blocks for Kilmore Quilters Honour Quilt.
I still have to do another 4 blocks to catch up.
I am doing mine in scrappy blues.

Scrappy Wonky Stars

This month over at Angela's at Soscrappy there is  SCRAP HAPPY SATURDAY going on. I have sat down and made 4 more wonky star blocks. The colour this month is RED. I need a quilt for a sweet friend of my son who just turned 21. The stars represent my son. So whenever she needs warmth she can wrap herself in this quilt and think of him... All the boys are getting the puzzle quilts, the girls will get a wonky star. I also got 2 more puzzle quilts quilted and the wonky star pieced and quilted. All have the binding attached so I can sit down on Sunday and start hand stitching it down and join in the fun with everyone over at KATHY's SLOW STITCHING SUNDAY

My blocks measure 18" square.

After I got the bindings on I caught up on my RSC14 SAMPLER blocks over at Soscrappy.

I then realised I hadn't done my pink month for the bubble quilt. So here they are too.

I had an early start and a late night. I had trouble sleeping & it was freezing here. Instead of sitting and doing nothing I turned the heater up and put one DVD after another and sewed, sewed & sewed.

A very productive day......

A CATCH UP POST

I have been out and about. Sewing and lunching. So this is a post to catch up on what I have been doing and all the link ups I should have done.

Firstly.... On Wednesday Angela had a link up of the half year mark for for RSC 14 sampler blocks. So here are mine. Take a look at what others are doing HERE at Soscrappy

Then we had FNWF over at Gone Stitchin' with CHERYLL

Well I was very busy finishing off a few things.
I had made a couple of drainage bags for CANCER patients.
The FREE pattern was from CHERYLL here

A jelly roll race cot quilt. With heart/leaves quilting and the label is on too.

Then I finished some square bags that I made from a prize of a charm square pack, HOOPLA, from VAL'S QUILTING STUDIO.

Saturday saw me starting my red scraps over at Angela's at Soscrappy making her sampler blocks.

I also did my BUBBLE TREE blocks

And I went ahead and made my paper pieced block for Kerry for this months swap over at 

PAPER PIECERS SWAP CLUB. I decided on making WILD ZINNIAS block from Quilters Cache, Quilt blocks galore. This is a great site with many blocks and in all different sizes.

The last Saturday of the month

It's the end of the YELLOWS. Unless Angela sneaks in some more yellow blocks over at SOSCRAPPY I have caught up.

It is Scrap Happy Saturday and I have only a little bit of time this afternoon to sew.

Here are the last 2 blocks I got done.

Then I moved on to finish some mug rugs for Breast Cancer.

My friend needs at least 100 of these for her fundraiser day.

They still need their bows on them.

FNSI & SCRAP HAPPY SATURDAY

Well, Friday night had me drag out my UFO box of Leanne's House and start block no 5..

I have machine pieced the block together ready for Slow stitching Sunday....

No photos yet. They don't look like much without the stitchery drawn on so I will wait to put them up. I also prepared a surprise project. I will be working on that over the next few weeks too. I might put up some sneak peaks at some point.

FNSI over at Sugarlane Quilts  also saw me catch up on my 6" block swap for Lee. She wanted any blocks in Civil War prints. A while ago I bought a fat 1/8th pack. These fabrics were in it. Hope they fit the bill.

The 1st block is called "Granny's favourite" & the other one is "Resolution Square". They are both from the pattern book " The Loyal Union Sampler" from Elm Creek Quilts.

I have all the books and have nearly read them all. It is so good to actually use patterns you have in hand. I really love this series.

SATURDAY

I have been working along with Angela and her RSC 14 Sampler.

This month it is yellow. I don't have very many yellow fabrics so some are actually into the oranges, I think. Anyway, I have caught up with the blocks so far. 7 in all so far....

Angela puts up all the directions to make these 6" blocks....

I have enjoyed my Scrap. Happy Saturday.

Yellow scrappy blocks

My 12" block swap partner this month is Karen. We are members of QBSA and every month we get a new partner and swap a block of their choice with them. Karen wanted an Ohio Star with cream background, coloured points with a contrast centre. 

As it is a Yellow month over at Soscrappy I thought that's what I would do.

Then I thought I would do this Framed 4 Patch block from the RSC sampler page that Angela puts up the patterns for.

I continued in my mellow yellow mood and sewed some wonky stars.

I do not have a lot of yellow so thanks to the girls in my Monday group for helping me out.

The funny thing is they thought I was mad using up my little pieces of scraps now they are doing it too. Here are my stars.

BUT WAIT, there is more

I thought I had caught up with my green blocks from Angela  at Soscrappy  BUT then she went ahead and did some more. So what was I to do.. DO THEM, of course.

I looked on Pinterest and did the ones there too.

The top one in the centre I did a little different. On the weekend we learnt a 3d bow tie pattern so I put that into it. The centre diamond shape is a 3d piece....

While I was in the mood I made my 12" paper pieced block for Julianne

I thought it was going to be harder than it was. It went together better than I thought. It lays flat and the seams meet. I think this is my best one yet.

I have finally unpacked my car from being at a retreat last weekend. I thought I would catch up on Angela's RSC 14 Sampler blocks for this month.

This went together very quickly.

Yippee, I have done it.

I made 6 blocks today in pink. February's colour.
These are what Angela has given us tutorials for. I didn't get to do these as I was away on holidays.

Now for that bias handle on the basket. Some are made into a tube that you have to turn right out. I used bias bars and no turning needed.

SEW YOUR BIAS STRIP WRONG SIDES TOGETHER

TRIM YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE TO ABOUT 1/8"

INSERT BIAS BAR INTO TUBE OF FABRIC, 

TWIST YOUR TUBE & IRON

REMOVE BIAS BAR & PLACE ONTO WORK IN DESIRED POSITION

TOP STITCH DOWN.

ALL DONE.

So much easier than turning out tubes....
