My busy day of sewing.....

I had a great day sewing at a sit n sew at Kilmore Quilters on Friday. 10am - 10pm... Including a Pizza tea.
This is how I spent my FNSI.
I started lots of projects.. Then I spent my weekend slow stitching my crazy patchwork item.
Monday I was at my Gisborne group and finished off some of these projects.
Then today at the Kilmore Quilters group I finished off more.....
Here they are...
PROJECT 1
8 x baby Bibs with 50" of bindings on each one.

GO BINDING BLITZ
I bought a lovely towelling bath towel/sheet for $5 and got the 8 bibs out of. I have been making these for years. They are great because the Velcro ones get filled with fluff and the Velcro doesn't stick. With the left over circle I will be making some nursing pads.

PROJECT 2
2 x receiving blankets.

I used Minky for the first time. As cute as it looks I think I will just do flannelette in the future. I think it will lay flatter.
I followed a tutorial from here
http://quiltingtutorials.com/basic-skills-techniques/binding-baby-quilt-receiving-blanket/

PROJECT 3
4 x Teddy Bear Pin Cushions. These are so cute.

I am making some gifts for Xmas and some trade table items. These are so cute and I got the idea from here
http://elblogdeesperanzalopez.blogspot.com.es/search?updated-max=2012-11-24T11:50:00%2B01:00&max-results=15&start=10&by-date=false

PROJECT 4
I finished my crazy patchwork item. I will be showing the Heathcote quilters tomorrow to show what I will be teaching there soon. I hope they like it and they are not overwhelmed with it.
Another 15" of binding....

WOW. I told you I have been busy
15 finishes for OPAM
415" binding.

FNWF...... & My 2 quilts in the garden blocks are here. Border blocks done. Possible layout.

Is everyone going to join in this Friday with us stitchers. It's FNWF time over at
I'm not sure what I will work on yet but it will happen....

It has been great over the last few months working on these fun blocks. Designed by Deana over at
http://dodmystery.blogspot.com.au
This block has come all the way from Kathi in Alaska.... The quilt on the fence is so cute
Thankyou Kathi
And this one is from Linda T.

I have managed to make all 26 of my border blocks for this months finish....

And I even made the bonus Half square triangles too.....

So I had a play with the layout of the blocks. This was a row by row quilt but I am not doing mine in rows. Mine will look a bit busier and come out a completely different size. Oh the challenge.
I will fill in the spaces with the half square triangles and trim some blocks to make them all fit in.
This is what I have so far....
The empty space is for the one  I am still waiting on. A tree block is to come from Linda Th....

MY HONOUR quilt is finished

I have spent a great deal of time finishing this quilt.

I have my sick grandson, NICHOLAS,  here for a few days and he was being a great helper.
Getting some fresh air before more medicine and a nap.
He always wants to help so here he is showing off the POPPY backing.  Very suitable for this ANZAC honour quilt. Read more about the story of this quilt by clicking on the tab "HONOUR QUILT 2014" at the top of the page.

I have quilted starting in the centre with a star and working my way out. Boy, did it take ages. I think it was worth it though. I am happy with the finish.

I'm off to the Kilmore Quilters tonight to show it off.

Now to link up with NTT over at

Another quilt quilted for a friend and some POPPIES

I have a dear friend who cannot quilt anything larger than a small wall hanging so I help out. She then puts the binding on when I am done.
This is a large quilt and it did take a bit of time for me to do. It is finished.
It is a BASKET WEAVE pattern. A quick and easy design I showed her.
ANNA did a lovely job in making it. I just hope she likes how I have quilted it.

I made some knitted POPPIES to donate to my local quilt group. Kilmore Quilters.
We are using them for our display. It is such a big thing this year for us here in AUSTRALIA.
Read about it all HERE. They have collected about 9000 already. They were only expecting 5000. They are collecting until March.

They were so quick and easy to do. I wonder if they count as a OPAM.

here is the pattern I used. I got 12 poppies from one 8 ply ball of acrylic yarn.

School is back

So my grandson, who is now in grade 1, is back at school. Of course he needs a new ART SMOCK.
I had a little bit of fabric here. He didn't like much of it so I am hoping he likes what I have made.

He liked the camouflage fabric  then I had to find something to go with it.
I found this aircraft fabric. Yes I know it is going sideways but I had to go with what I had.
It is reversible so when one side is too messy just put it on the other way.
I hope he likes it.
YES HE DOES....

First finishes for 2015

I have had the tops done for my 3 LITTLE LETTERS baby quilts for a few weeks now..
The patterns are by Sheryl at
Sheryl put out the patterns twice a week so I slowly followed along.
Today I quilted them all.
I tried a new quilting design that I have seen on some blogs lately. I had fun with it.
This is such a great quilt for a baby..

This pink one has an off centre spiral. It was done using only the foot spacing. It is quilted heavier than I normally do but I think it looks good.
This will be a present for a friend this month..

You can't really see the green letters with this photo but they are pretty
I started the spirals small and moved out to a larger spacing. I am happy with it.

Here are all 3 hanging together.

And the backings were a great bargain. 2 were from Ballan when I was there on retreat. The other one  I have had for a while. They all have the alphabet on them so they were a perfect choice.

Next on today's list was some bags. My mum was giving these knitting Nancy kits to a family with 3 children. She wanted a bag to store all the pieces together with some wool.
A drawstring was used for ease.

Because there was 3 children I decided to make an extra work in progress bag for each of them. At telecast then they store there work all together without leaving a mess for their mum or losing anything.
I hope they are happy with them.

I am not sure if I will make some more of these quilts but maybe. They were fun and a great baby quilt

My Rotaries in Bloom are BLOOMING CUTE

I am taking part in Deane's QUILTERS GARDEN row by row MYSTERY QUILT
I have really enjoyed this months block.. ROTARIES IN BLOOM.
The rotary cutter makes the stem And centre in the Dresden plate flower. How cute....
You have until the end of the month to do some blocks. Then over on the DODMYSTERY BLOG all you need to do is post how many blocks you want to swap. (Click on the link above)

If you can do this you will get next months block instructions for free.
Thanks Deane.
Here are my blocks.....
No. 1 to swap

No.2 to swap
,

No. 3 to keep

No. 4 to keep

My flowers didn't quite meet up right but they still look great.
The ones I am keeping I somehow doubled up on the fabrics.
I have needle turned appliqued them all down.

This week I am linking up with Kelly for NTT. Needle & Thread Thursday

NEARLY INSANE in SEPTEMBER.

I have been working on my Nearly Insane quilt all year.
They are only 6" blocks and will take me quite some time to do.
With only doing 4 blocks a month I am nearly half way through.

No.. 16
It looks like this block was done with the scraps. I didn't stick to the pattern and used up my little scraps that I keep in the bag for all those tiny pieces.

No.. 18
This block has 227 pieces in it. It looks nothing like it is supposed to. I got so confused doing it foundation pieced method. I am not very accurate doing it this way... I think I would have been more successful making lots of half square triangles.
My seams don't match, pieces are in the wrong spot or upside down.
GUESS WHAT???? They can stay there. With the tiny stitches used for foundation piecing I am not able to unpick. Now I just have to take out all those papers. OMG.....

No.. 23

No.. 26

The other blocks went together very easy.
At least they are done....

I am linking up with NTT...NEEDLE and THREAD THURSDAY
Have a look at what others are doing.......
