A little date with Jack and my bucket has is redone

I have been thinking about my oversized bucket hat. I think I came up with a way to fix it.

A date with Jack and it is unpicked. But not all the way.

1/2” trimmed from the brim and the side/height pieces. Then about 5-6” in width on the brim.

All sewn back together

I’m happy with this now. It sits deep and heavy enough. I shouldn’t have to put a tie on it

This will stay in the caravan for our trips. I do love the colours.

My bindings are now a bucket hat.

I loved the fabrics in my Bordertown B’s quilt so much I decided to make a bucket hat with them.

I’ve wanted a bucket hat for a while too.

I came across a pattern and tutorial HERE

Thought I would need the large size so it was traced out.

Collect all the bindings

Lay them out ready to choose

Start sewing onto interfacing

Pieces cut to the pattern

Stitched in to the hat

But oh no. It is too big. I added some elastic to see if that helped. Oh no! It made it worse and looked hilarious on.

So I will spend another day breaking it down and trimming some here and there. Then hopefully I can get it fitting better.
I do love the overall look of the colours though.
I did use all the bindings too.
