Happy mail and some baby sewing

A while ago I commented on Mari’s blog that I loved the backing fabric she had used.

https://academicquilter.blogspot.com/2021/06/purple-morning.html

How lucky am I Mari sent me her leftovers…and a few other fabrics.

Aren’t those birds just so cute. More fabric for my stash. I knew of a design I wanted to make straight away.

First up I found some pale yellow to go with the birds.

Cut up the birds into as many squares as I could get in a workable size. 6 1/2” square. Cut some strips of the yellow to border them making a 10 1/2” square.

Then I searched for some other fabrics to match the blues and yellows. I cut them in to strips for the alternating blocks.

Put them all on the wall and cut the strips to fit the spaces. Layout no. 1

Layout no. 2

One day I will get back to piecing it all together.

Thank you so much Mari for your kindness.

A day of yellows

I started out with this tub of yellows..

And made an easy block... A simple 9 patch

Here are my 4 catch up blocks for a couple of weeks.

Why is it that you make a block,  take a photo  and still dont see the mistake.

Then when you quilt it the mistake shows... OH NO!!!!!

I can't believe it's the last Saturday of February.
So yellows it is and linking up with Angela.

I still have Mari's

I will catch up...

I wanted to also share that I have linked up with O SCRAP.

A workshop on the weekend...

I have got a workshop coming up on the weekend. There is a bit of cutting to do before hand.
It is designed for a jelly roll and some background fabric. I didn't want to go and buy anything. I have had a beautiful pack of Xmas fat 1/4s sent to me by the lovely Mari..

When I received the fabric... https://jobutterfield.blogspot.com.au/2016/12/lovely-blogging-friends-to-say-thankyou.html

Anyway I have worked out that there is enough fabric and I had some background to go with it. So now to get it all cut ready for class.

I'm not sewing tonight but I am playing with fabric. I am still joining  in with Wendy and others for
