Junee, part 5. The trip home.

Okay, we had a great weekend and now it’s time to go home.

We had rain but some sunshine too. The trip home was wet and stormy.

Sylvia, this photo is to show that we do have to slow down a lot.

This is how the day started. Wet

Then road works

The floods are up to the roads edge.

The river is very close here. This hwy ended up being flooded and closed off for about 2-3 weeks.

This was the first nights camp stop for my hubby on his bike trip. It is flooded out and closed.

Look what we were headed for.

And then the heavy rain started.

Can you see the cars headlights coming towards us.

The roads damage was very poor with bad potholes most of the way. We got home to our town now in floods.
The weekend was worth it.

Junee. Part 4. The Roundhouse

We love trains. It was so good to stumble across this place. We had asked a few locals and they hadn’t visited it before. With not knowing much about it and with the weather so poorly we nearly didn’t see it.

I’m so glad we did

It was good to see all the old trains. We got to see the first class cabin and the second class. Go in all the carriages. It was very interesting to see.

Junee part 3. Zoom and fireworks.

We did a little drive and walk through the town. There is no patchwork shop here but they do have a sewing group that meets at the RSL on a Tuesday. Their notice and display was in a shop window.

Chooky had another zoom session on but I couldn’t stay for long. I did join in and sewed too before we went out to dinner.

We were tired when we returned and while relaxing there was an almighty bang. It turned out that behind the caravan park was the show grounds and the locals were having their yearly show. Celebrated at the end of the day with FIREWORKS. They were beautiful.

And off to bed we went.

A visit to Junee. part 2. The Motor Museum

In between the rain we crossed over the car park and looked into the Motor Museum.

Tony found it interesting as his first job was working on lawn mowers and after his mechanical career he is once again working on them again a few hours a week.

This car has recently done a 3 week trip to the middle of Australia. I can’t believe it still works on such a big trip but they say it didn’t have any issues the whole time gone. I am impressed.

Look at this push bike lawn mover. How funny.

We even got to meet both the owners who have this great collection.

The rain got a bit heavier so we went back to the cafe for another coffee. Then we sprinted back to the caravan park. We had so much to eat for our breakfast that we didn’t even have lunch.

It was amazing to see all the old cars, bikes and mowers.

A weekend away with hubby. Junee, NSW, part 1. Licorice and chocolate factory.

NSW was going through terrible flooding and still is. We had been wanting to get away as it is nearing Xmas and our weekends are filled we thought we would try to see if we could make it to Junee. Hubby stopped there on his recent trip around Aust. and they found a licorice factory. Yummy. So off we headed. Then there were storms. There was a small clearer section in the middle of the sky, this is where we were headed.

A race against time. Look out to the left. We made it to Junee without too much rain which was good.

The clubs in NSW have curtesy buses so both Thursday and Friday nights we got lifts to the RSL clubs for dinner.Saturday morning, in between the rain, we walked about 500metres to the factory for breakfast and a lovely coffee. They did a good job. We looked around and we shopped too. Yep, the Xmas presents are bought. You could watch the licorice and chocolates being made.

Into the shop

Offered some tastings… mmmmmm yummmmy

Off into the Motor Museum next.
