Arriving in Darwin, exploring and Dinner in Darwin with my brother Dennis

 On the way into Darwin.

We have arrived in Darwin at dinner time and my other brother Dennis and wife, On met us when we arrived. We had to jump on a transfer so couldn’t spend any time with them until the next day.

Got to the motel and we had a quick Chinese meal

and then back for some sleep.

Next day we had a fun time exploring

Down the waterfront for some lunch and a drink.

Oops, and another drink.

My two brothers Graeme, Dennis and myself.

Along our walk we saw this parrot hiding in a doorway. The colours are beautiful.

My brother and Jean had a room 2 floors up. We are just saying hi to each other.

It was time to get a transfer to the airport and head home.

We were given a lot of gifts on the train from the staff. It was not just my birthday but our 41st wedding anniversary. They are great reminders of our trip.

This was a 10 day holiday from when we left home and got back. It was not really a trip about seeing as many sights as we could. We have driven and ridden this way a couple of times. It was the 4th time I have been to Darwin. It was more about enjoying the journey and spending time with family and friends. It is a wonderful time and memory I will cherish forever.

My brother Russell from Bendigo to us to the train station to start and picked us up at the end. Thank you for going out of your way to do this. And thanks for the gift too.

On the way home we stopped at the Marong pub for lunch. We had a beautiful meal. We will go there again

So this trip was a wonderful holiday with many activities and celebrations.
We travelled by car, train, tram, planes, taxis, buses and Ubers. We were supposed to have a boat ride but due to weather conditions it was cancelled.
So I am calling my birthday holiday.
PLANES, TRAINS and AUTOMOBILES.

The GHAN on to Alice Springs then to Katherine

We are all enjoying our train trip. The staff are amazing and are enjoying the food and drinks that are being served to us. Ask and you shall receive.

We had at our to the Alice Springs Desert Park

Seeing the natural wildlife was great.

This owl is in full flight. Just beautiful

Back to the train

When we got back into our cabin we were greeted with a refreshing drink. It was very hot and humid outside so to sit and relax with a drink already prepared was lovely.

We couldn’t do our tour of the Katherine Gorge as the area was still flooded. We were the first run for the 2024 season so this is not unexpected. So we could only get off the train and go for a walk at the station.

We headed to the front of the train to get a photo of it.

Back onboard to relax again. All my brother wanted was an umbrella decoration in his cocktail. They didn’t have any so the staff made what they could. How funny. A champagne cork with fruit sticks coming out of it. He loved it.

You can see how much water is still in the area.
