Country Pot Holders

I recently did a machine quilting class at    Kilmore Quilters    with Jude Leibmann.

Jude is very talented. She gave us quite a few tips and designs to quilt.

So we didn't waste the fabric we had quilted Jude suggested it be used to make a hot pad.

I made mine into Pot Holders. I can use them for Xmas gifts.

I raw edged appliqued some hearts on as part of the quilting.

I put a pocket a pocket on the back to help with the grip.

My quilting design was of little all over hearts.

December Block Lotto

I am part of a Block Lotto

It is a group that makes a set of designated blocks for the month. The amount of blocks gives you a ticket for each in the draw. You can win or not. Luck of the draw.

I have only recently joined this group. I use it for a bit of practice, participation and communication. Maybe I might even win some blocks to make a quilt. Let's hope.

This month was relatively easy and quick to do.

All we had to do was cut 2" strips, 3 white tone on tone & 3 printed.

Trim the block to 6.5" * 9.5".

Great for the Xmas build up.

Breast Cancer Awareness fund raising mug rugs

I am part of a great group of supporting ladies on a Monday. At the moment 1 lady, Barb is focussing on making mug rugs for a special fundraising day. She cannot sell these but on the day can take donations to help raise funds for the McGrath Foundation for Breast Cancer. Somewhere along our daily lives we have all been touched by this disease. It was great for me to be able to take part and help out. They were fun, quick & easy to make..

Floral Trellis quilt workshop

I did a days workshop with Andrea. She was teaching a class making her FLORAL TRELLIS quilt.

I did mine in brights. It was organised through the Kilmore Quilters

This is my quilt so far. I managed to get all the blocks done on the day. Trimmed them up at home and pieced together. Would you believe that these are not on point but just blocks made and sewn together in strips. It was easy to do and quick and very effective.
We used a layer cake , fabric for the sashing and extra fabric for the borders. There was no waste from the layer cake.

I still have to get this out and finish it.

Kris Kringle

I had a good day at   Kilmore Quilters on the weekend doing a machine quilting course.

Instead of just sewing on a scrap I turned my quilted piece into my Kris Kringle present I need for my Heathcote Quilters group.

I made a quilted pot holder, a coaster & a mug bag to go with the mug I bought. I hope the winner of this gift will like it.

6 " block swap for November 2013

I have got the painters at home giving my place a fresh coat of paint. 

So what better time to catch up on some sewing.

Here is what I have done for Michell in New Zealand.

The request was any blocks in blue & white.

I wanted to try a new method to make a 3d Bow ties block.

I think they worked out great.

They are in the mail now & I am up to date with all my swaps.

Paper pieced / Foundation pieced block swaps

This month I was lucky enough to have 2 partners.

These lovely Bow hearts are going to Helen in Queensland

These Atlantic seas blocks are going for a trip overseas to Janet in Canada.

I was a bit out with my points on the 1st block so I thought I'd do an extra for practice.
