Another project on the go

I am teaching a group of ladies how to make a folder cover.
I have prepared all the pieces so they can see what to get ready for the next meeting. This is when we will finish the project.
You can use anything for the front. A stitchery, orphan block, scraps or just a patterned fabric.
The measurements of block / stitchery & folder will depend on what size to cut the fabrics.
I am making this for a special friend. She made this stitchery for a close friend of hers who was too sick to put it to good use & has since passed away. When going through her sewing things she came across it again. So I thought I would make it into something special for her too keep.
It was then easy to work out the colours to match.

The inside pockets are ready to be sewn.

The strap, binding, buttons & elastic are here too.

I am linking up with WIP WEDNESDAY for this one.

OLD QUILT, NEW POST

Today I am linking up with Vals for her Archival Tuesday
This weeks themes are... Boys... BOM... WIP... & FINISHES.
That's a good range to choose from.
Here is my BOY choice. ROAD GAMES
Here is my sons quilt that I made him for his 6th birthday back in 2000.
It was my first curved quilt.
I hand pieced it as well as hand quilted it.
It was only my 3rd quilt that I had done. I am still very happy with it.
Whenever we went anywhere we would take this quilt and a handful of matchbox cars. Then he always had something to play with and then keep him warm for his nap or on the car trip home.

House blocks

My local group at Heathcote have a fun project going on at the moment.
At Christmas time we were given a paper bag with a pattern in it. It was of a house. The house fabric was included & we were to add all the rest. When all are completed and handed in ( by June ) those members get a ticket into the draw. What you win is all the house blocks..
A quick quilt if you are the lucky winner. The block measures 9".
Here is mine

HAPPY EASTER

Hope everyone had a safe and Happy Easter.
My Sunday was spent doing more hand quilting on my BLUE HEARTS QUILT.
My evening, while quilting, was spent watching the first 2 episodes of DOWNTON ABBEY.
More of those log cabins have been done.

Look on over at   KATHY's QUILTS  and see who else was slow stitching
I am grateful for this link up. Now in am actually getting this quilt done.

BRENDA's BLOCKS

I have done my blocks for Brenda this month very early. Brenda asked for any block any colour.
What a hard choice. You would think this would be easy but no.......
Oh well, this is what I posted.
THE 6" block swap is here...
The purple MOCK LeMoyne Star was for Soscrappy month,  Scrap Happy Saturday and RSC14 Sampler.
I am also making a lot of WONKY STARS for my RSC 14.
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

FNSI & free motion quilting

I have spent all day & evening trying some FREE MOTION QUILTING on a friends quilt.
In the green leaf borders I went around all the leaves. I think this makes them really stand out.
In the black sashings and centre blocks I stippled so that they fall into the background.
My friend didn't want too much quilting on it so hope she will be happy.
Close up of quilting
And on the bed.
The camera is showing up the colour different to what it actually is.
It is lovely. Now all she has to do is the binding.

I have linked up with a heap of others over at   Sugarlane Quilts with Wendy  for FNSI.

HAND QUILTING on a Sunday

I sat down for a peaceful evening with my hand quilting.
I have been working on this for 10 years now.
So hopefully I will get it out a bit more often and finish it.
Anyway... I am still doing the quilting around the 4" log cabins.
There are only 144.. Haha. Not many.
It is hard to see the quilting but has to be done. Each piece will have some stitching on it.

Here is a close up of the quilting

I have also found these great thimbles called COMFORT THIMBLES.
They are made of rubber and shaped for finger nails. I have bought a few of these so I have them in all my sewing projects.

More BALLOONS

Here is some photos of my grandsons saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my son JOHN and sending him up his green balloons.
They are so cute. The eldest one, Nicholas, came with us last year to do this. He remembered and asked if we were doing it again this year. He just started school so couldn't come with us so we had to let him do it this year.
They had fun.

Blue Blankets of Love

I sat down and made some beautiful Blue Blankets of Love.
To be posted off to Cheryll.
Look here to find out more.   BLANKETS OF LOVE
They are flannel backed and measure between 5"-11".
They are so cute and it is hard to believe that a baby can be so small. Hope these can be put to some use where a family will love them as much as their child.

Jewellery Rolls

I have been busy making fabric Jewellery Rolls for my grandsons school. They will be his donations for the Mothers Day stall.
I have been using my scraps for the outside. I have added a bling ring so the kids know what they are.
What I am sitting and sewing tonight is all the press studs on.
It is taking a while so I thought I would add it to Slow Stitching Sunday
It doesn't have to be a long time project but one that has you sit, think, relax, sew & achieve.
After my hectic week it has been good sitting down stitching these while I sit and chat with my hubby & mother in law. Father in law is in hospital and has had major heart surgery so mother in law is here for a couple of weeks.
A relaxing night before the week begins again.
So here they are........
I have made 10 in all...
Do you like the bling....

More BUBBLES

I got more bubbles done for my BUBBLE TREE done in this months colour.... PURPLE.
This is the colour Angela has chosen over at Soscrappy for the month of April.
Have a look at the great work others are doing  HERE on Scrap Happy Saturday.

Then I continued on and did some WONKY STAR blocks.
These measure 18".
I am making a couple each month and am unsure if I am going to use 9 or 12 blocks in a quilt.
Then I went off to visit my Father in Law in hospital. My next job was to baby sit my beautiful grandsons for the night while my daughter was at a wedding. So I packed my machine and continued sewing. I made 2 jewellery rolls...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN

On Thursday we celebrated what would have been my sons 20th birthday.
We went up to the Top of the Range Cafe at the Memorial Cross on top of Mount Macedon.
This is where we had his funeral.
There were 18 of us for lunch.
Then we went outside and let go of his green (favourite colour) balloons.
Up, up they went, high into the sky. All while we called out HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
I'm sure he was watching and laughing at us.
