TEABAG STRINGS HELP PLEASE.....

My friend is making these beautiful scarves.
She has run out of strings.
Each one takes about  4.000. -  6,000 strings.
They use your everyday tea bag strings.
Make a cup of tea, with a bag.
Break off the string, put into a bag, throw the tea leaf bag away, send the bag/tag to me.....

It is hard to get so many strings to knit.
I really need your help.
The tags go to charity to supply equipment. These would normally go into the rubbish.
Put a bowl on your bench, collect the strings/tags, send them to me.

THEY WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE...

Contact me for my address to post the strings.

Friends in Japan

Years ago we travelled to Japan and explored with a beautiful family. Asami and her family welcomed us as did her friend Mayumi.
Now Mayumi is a mum of two little girls.

These girls are just so gorgeous.

Hopefully one day I will get back there to meet them in person..

Spotlight bargains & CHARITY BLOCKS.

Our group has been busily making charity blocks.
Now it is up to me to get them sewn together to make more quilts.
Well, we have been given quite a lot of blocks another workshop has happened to sew them together.

I have also been approved by my quilt group for a donation of $250 to go towards the charity quilts.
So off to spotlight I went.
86.75metres later and $333. I'm sure I have enough fabric to last and make quite  a lot of charity quilts. The group has a roll of pur cotton wadding to supply as well.
I am sew lucky that I can now sew away and it not cost anything for my hobby and I am helping others out at the same time....

Convergence . Red White and Blue for an AUSSIE HERO.

Using up my birthday fat quarters and continuing on with my Convergence quilt.
This is where I am at.
I can see it in my head but getting it where I want it is another thing...
Oh boy. All those flying geese are taking forever. Paper foundation piecing has its place but this is a lot of work.

I have had a play and need to make this block longer to make the size required.
This quilt needs to be around 42" x 72"
The original block was not square. It was about an inch off.
So I had to think of some way to make it longer.
First up I thought to add a row top and bottom BUT I was in a workshop the other weekend and throwing around ideas it was suggested to only add rows to the bottom.
So here goes.

So far I'm happy with where it is going.

Butterflies

My scrappy butterflies

These were the blocks we started with.

I really didn't want to sash them as that makes more work me.
These are for charity and I will be quilting them.
I came up with the idea of adding a leaning border. This makes the block measure 15". The butterflies won't touch therefore not needing sashing. Who ever makes the block can add the border.
9 blocks isn't quite enough so I have decided to go for 12 blocks.
This will make the quilt 45" x 60".
A great size for charity.
Thanks to Joanne for the idea of the butterfly block.
Have a look at the basic block and tutorial she has supplied..

So scrappy UP TO DATE with TINY TUESDAY

I have been doing a bit of sewing. A few minutes at a time.
Slowly I have managed to keep up with my Tiny Tuesday blocks with Angela.
SORRY FOR THE POOR QUALITY OF PHOTOS.
The lighting isn't very good at night for photos in my sewing room.

I  made 2 blocks.
I'm not sure if they look like trees or umbrellas.

I am up to date...

Go over to Angela's to find the links to the blocks.
Be patient as she is selling her home, moving into a new home, renovating, working full time, looking after a family, living and maybe some sewing.
If the links are not updated just go to the home page and scroll through until you find what you want.

Knitting

My boss and his wife, who works at the same business, had a little girl a couple of months ago now. I gave them my ABC quilt. I decided to spend a few nights knitting and I made this gift.
So cute in yellow.

Hello from Val & Crystal.

I have had a few happy mail days that are long overdue for a THANKYOU.

I received a lovely surprise of a Xmas card, a fat quarter and postcards from Crystal.

I sent her some novelty fabrics for her alphabets or whatever she wanted to use them on.
Mind you, it was posted at Xmas time and didn't take get here until sometime in Feb. I am so slack to getting around to saying thankyou.

I have taken part in her eye Spy swap and can't wait to get sewing on it. I have decided what I am going to make so hopefully it won't be long away.

I was not able to be with our grandchildren for Easter. So the next best thing is photos.
