Butterflies

My scrappy butterflies

These were the blocks we started with.

I really didn't want to sash them as that makes more work me.
These are for charity and I will be quilting them.
I came up with the idea of adding a leaning border. This makes the block measure 15". The butterflies won't touch therefore not needing sashing. Who ever makes the block can add the border.
9 blocks isn't quite enough so I have decided to go for 12 blocks.
This will make the quilt 45" x 60".
A great size for charity.
Thanks to Joanne for the idea of the butterfly block.
Have a look at the basic block and tutorial she has supplied..

That's a great idea! The butterflies look more alive that way. When they are all lined up they look a bit like a museum display.

Good idea! The butterflies now look like they’re going to fly away, much prettier.
