12" block from BETH

I have been involved with Quilt Block Swap Australia since August 2013. I have just received my tenth 12" block. It was from Beth who lives in Queensland.

I asked for any star in country colours. It isn't as pink as in this photo.

Now I had better catch up and do one for Beth. Then I have to do my paper pieced block. 

I am also expecting my 6" partners info soon.

My birthday weekend

I was lucky enough to have my closest friends and daughter help me celebrate my birthday.

We stayed in the beautiful   AMORA hotel in BRIDGE rd Richmond.

Enjoyed dinner then an early start the next morning to go hot air ballooning over the city of Melbourne.

Then when we got home to see our grandsons I was given a beautiful coloured picture of balloons.They are so kind and thoughtful.

The eldest is 5 and has just started school. He did the writing.

The youngest is 3 and coloured the top right cloud.

More scrappy's for March

I am linking up with Soscrappy today. Even though this month is aqua/teal I still have done some scrappy blocks. Will catch up on teal soon.

I have done 5 more blocks for my "Good Night Irene" quilt.

Mail from my 12" block swap partner

I was very happy today after collecting my mail & I saw there was a parcel from Tasmania.

The end of my holiday last week was in Tasmania, Hobart, for a day.

My swap partner in the 12" block swap at QBSA, Irene, lives there.

She has ended up making me 2 blocks. Lucky me

This 1st block has some great fabrics

Collecting my mail after being on holidays

What a treat to collect so much good mail.

I have been away on a needlework tour cruising around New Zealand for 2 weeks. 

It was a great surprise to receive the following blocks from my 2 partners in the 

6" block swap for February.

They both have chosen lovely colours & fabrics.

So here they are all the way from ITALY was Monica's.

They are actually a burnt orange colour.

Then I have the blocks from Kate whose colours look like a beautiful sunset. 

Or maybe the colours of the local fires we both have been very near to.

Tassie friends

While on our NEEDLEWORK CRUISE we met 2 very lovely ladies, Ruth & Colleen.

We have become friends and hope to visit each other in the future. They are both very talented and did beautiful work in their classes.

Ruth made a beautiful stitched sewing box lid.

Colleen did a stunning ladybug design on a felted babies jacket & bootee set.

Her other 2 classes were a stunning felted scarf & a beaded button.

Well done girls.

Can't wait to catch up again for another laugh or two.

Last day of February & last day of January's Nearly Insane blocks

With the Kilmore group we get given 4 numbers a month. I was so behind.

Tiled floors

While on my trip to Tasmania I came across some beautiful tiled floors.

I am going to try and make a quilt replicating this one.

I found it on the doors step of the old Savings Bank in Hobart..

It is a beautiful design.

Then we went to the old Cascade Brewery.

In the front entrance in front of the fire place was this design

And in the foyer , covered by a rug, was this beauty.

I could only get a corner of it though.

Japanese Beading with Suzanne Gude

My 1 day class on the  CRUISE. was to learn about Japanese Beading.

My tutor was Suzanne Gude.

Suzanne also explained about the 5 phases of beading.

Here displayed for us Suzanne has made some exquisite beaded bags.

There were 3 main techniques to learn within the piece I made. Which was to be an eye glass case.

I have only done a little bit here but I will finish it.

I think I will be doing it for a while.
