GOODNIGHT IRENE FLIMSY

I have done my borders on Goodnight Irene.

Here is my flimsy blowing in the wind.

Another successful day sewing.

While I have been busy sewing so has my friend.

Here is her quilt laid out so you can see the design.

We had the backing rolled over to the front to stop fraying. Now we got around to trimming it square and putting the new colourful binding on.

Now I am packing my car to leave Merrimbula and move on to a fun weekend at Phillip Island for another sewing retreat.

What a great Mother's Day weekend I will have.

They are done

Here they are. The rest of my puzzle quilts...

I have been so busy and the flimsy's are done.......
Except 2 still need some more binding.
I had to get a day where it wasn't too windy so I could get a photo with all of them together.
They are looking good.

Since taking this photo I have finished putting all the bindings around the puzzle pieces.

All I have to do to them is quilt them.

These will be ready for the boys birthdays this year.

Yes more blocks needed

I thought I would do some more blocks for this quilt.

So I went ahead and got in to it.

30 blocks in all. 

Then I started on the borders... A little different to Terry's...

Now to decide on borders

Go over to TERRY's TREASURES and have a look at what others are up to with this " Good Night Irene " quilt. There are some great colours.

I'm putting on the binding FIRST

I have managed to machine sew on the binding on my BLUE HEARTS quilt.

I want to draw on a quilting pattern into the border and I didn't want it getting cut off when I trimmed up the quilt. So, as usual, I have done it back to front and now I am hand stitching it down today.
A relaxing day for Slow Stitching Sunday

My friend has sat down with me and done some hand quilting on her hexagon quilt.

This is her 1st quilt done by hand.

I'll post a photo of the whole quilt another day.

My hubby decided to surprise me and turn up at my friends for the weekend.
He brought some mail with him.
It was my block from Vicki from Albury. We were partners in the 12" block swap over at  QBSA

I'm seeing GREEN

 I am still sewing away and have today been doing my WONKY STARS. I will be making different colour blocks to put together for my sons girl friends birthdays this year.





I still have those beautiful views.

And of course my friends dog GYPSY had to join in the fun.



These blocks measure 18" so I will only need 12 to make a nice size quilt. I am not adding a border....

I have had a great day of sewing while my friend has been doing the cooking.
Look at these scales she uses every day. They are reat. I wouldn't know how to use them.

May Blocks for Irene

I have done another 5 blocks for my "Good Night Irene" quilt.

I think I might need some more. I like a rectangular quilt rather than square.

Not sure what I am doing for borders either.

A busy week

Let's get in the Christmas spirit early.

MEANWHILE.
I have been staying at a friends house in NSW and catching up on some sewing. I have been very busy with lots more still to do.

Here is the view I have while I'm sewing, eating & watching tv. Isn't it stunning..

As you can see from the above photo the colour of this block is far more beige than the photo on the left.
Anyway, this is the block I have done for my swap partner, Carolyn, over at QBSA...

Then I have been working on more puzzle quilts for the boys.

I have another 4 to do...

My friends dog just had to get in

So today I have continued to sew and join in the fun with everyone for
 FRIDAY NIGHT WITH FRIENDS

9 PATCH OWL COT QUILT

After getting the binding done on Sunday I have gone back and added some extra quilting. 

Stippling in the plain blocks in a soft pink.

This quilt is FINISHED......

It is soooo cute. Hoot Hoot.

Another project on the go

I am teaching a group of ladies how to make a folder cover.

I have prepared all the pieces so they can see what to get ready for the next meeting. This is when we will finish the project.

You can use anything for the front. A stitchery, orphan block, scraps or just a patterned fabric.

The measurements of block / stitchery & folder will depend on what size to cut the fabrics. 

I am making this for a special friend. She made this stitchery for a close friend of hers who was too sick to put it to good use & has since passed away. When going through her sewing things she came across it again. So I thought I would make it into something special for her too keep.

It was then easy to work out the colours to match.

The inside pockets are ready to be sewn.

The strap, binding, buttons & elastic are here too.

Here is my sons quilt that I made him for his 6th birthday back in 2000.

It was my first curved quilt.

 I hand pieced it as well as hand quilted it.

It was only my 3rd quilt that I had done. I am still very happy with it.

Whenever we went anywhere we would take this quilt and a handful of matchbox cars. Then he always had something to play with and then keep him warm for his nap or on the car trip home.
