My Appliqué workshop

My appliqué workshop went so well. We all had a bit of fun.
Traced some simple drawings onto vliesofix, ironed them onto fabric,
cut out on the lines, then iron on to background.
Now to get ready for lots of blanket stitching.

Doesn't he look great on the newsprint background.

Look at this cutie pie.

And put on to the background

And the Unicorn is finished.

Val has a great linky party every Tuesday. Why don't you go and have a look.

Val also has a give away at the moment...

And here it is finished.
The lighting isn't very good as the day was gloomy and I have already passed it on to my friend.
I am happy with making baby quilts this size. 42" * 60".
They can use it for quit a while.

I used some selvedge to border a label.
It shows all the colours in the different unicorns.

Sundays afternoon drive

Hubby and I decided to go for a drive one day. We hadn't been here before.
75 kms from Mildura, a small town named WERRIMULL.
A relaxing stop and a pub meal.

A lovely old pub. We thought we would have a quiet light lunch.
In fact, this pub was very busy considering it doesn't open long hours and was away from everything.

And the little old post office next door. This was all that is in the town..

Maxine's Crazy Friendship finish

My friend Maxine was helping out her friend to get a quilt finished.
40 years ago these blocks were made by a group of friends. The plan was a friendship quilt.
14 blocks were made and then put in a bag and into the cupboard they went.

Maxine had some similar fabric and lace and set out to make a block. (The centre one)
But too much lace..
Then we were playing with layout ideas.
We didn't want to change the original blocks as they were made from friends.
We just had to figure out how to put them together.
Cut away some lace and it blends nicely.

Look at how it all works together.

Then we printed the label onto a doily.
The quilt wont be washed but will be treasured.
When given back to the owner she was brought to tears..
