Covid-19 madness Knitting with teabag strings

I was given a pre rolled ball of strings and I got out my 4.5 mm needles. Cast on 40 sts and stated knitting.

I received a package of strings in the mail...

Taking the tags off I am left with different lengths of strings. The more stained the better.

I have a little ball. As you can see it's not very big. This will take some time. I only drink 1 cup of tea a day so I collect them from anyone who is willing to save them for me.

I need between 4 - 6,000 strings... OMG... what was I thinking.

This is where I am at now.
I need more strings

Hi Jo, Hmm have fun knitting up the strings.... I'll start saving strings again, do you want tags removed ???
Thankfully Covid has avoided our small town and this side of Aus but I do think it cant last forever.
Stay well.

A very ambitious project! It will be quite something upon completion! Good luck collecting enough strings!

This just fascinates me. Knitting with tea strings. I would have never thought!! I have one string sitting on the windowsill at my kitchen sink and every time I look at it I think of you. I'd send it but you know what the international mail is like right now. Instead, it's a conversation piece. Good luck!!

Okaaaay...well, I save tea bag papers and dry them out to use in my Altered Book Junk Journal--but I truly think that Covid has gotten to us both!! ;0000

Hubby thinks I've really lost it!!

I don't drink tea and I never thought of knitting with tea strings.

A very ambitious project, but your progress is amazing! Does is it take just as long to tie the strings together as knit it?

Jo, “madness” is a great description. You definitely have too much time on your hands. 🤣🤣. I don’t drink much tea, so won’t be of use to you. I do love the look of your work in progress. Enjoy the journey.
