Xmas finishes in May

I have been getting a jump on the Xmas presents. I even managed to get a few finished.
My folded triangles are done, stitched together and all the sparkling stars are on.

Then I stitched this oh so cute stocking, added some treats and it is all finished.

Now to continue on with the next items. I am in the middle of something I haven't tried before.

4 day retreat with friends PART 2

To continue with more sewing....

I was able to get another 7 Wonky stars blocks done to add to the collection.
I now have a total of  34 blocks out of the 48 I need.
Can't wait for the next month to start then we can get a new colour from Angela over at Soscrappy

We also had one of our members, Andrea, show how to make the 3d Bow Tie block. Quite a few ladies worked on these for the weekend.

I also worked on my Xmas in July Swap projects. I can't show you full pictures yet but here is a sample. I manage to get 1 finished, another ones machining done & the 3rd cut out and started.

Here  is all my little squares put together with more to come.
There is a nice range of fabrics that look great together.

A close up of some corners.
What is it?  Mmmmmmmmmmm

Then I have something with embellished stars

Slow Stitching on a Sunday

Here i sat this evening after an already lazy day and did some slow stitching.
I hear and see Xmas vibes around everywhere so I thought I would join in.
It is a bit dark but I think it still can be seen. I am linking up with
Kathy HERE for Slow Stitching Sunday

BUT WAIT, there is more

I thought I had caught up with my green blocks from Angela  at Soscrappy  BUT then she went ahead and did some more. So what was I to do.. DO THEM, of course.
I looked on Pinterest and did the ones there too.
The top one in the centre I did a little different. On the weekend we learnt a 3d bow tie pattern so I put that into it. The centre diamond shape is a 3d piece....

While I was in the mood I made my 12" paper pieced block for Julianne
I thought it was going to be harder than it was. It went together better than I thought. It lays flat and the seams meet. I think this is my best one yet.
Have a look at the PAPER PIECERS SWAP BLOG for some more great blocks.

GREEN, GREEN & GREEN

I have finally unpacked my car from being at a retreat last weekend. I thought I would catch up on Angela's RSC 14 Sampler blocks for this month.
GREEN, GREEN & more GREEN.
I made 6 blocks and will link up with

My blocks are adding up. I think I have managed to do them all and have a great idea for a quilt I saw on Pinterest.
More about that later when I finally decide what I'm doing.

4 Day Retreat with friends part 1

I was lucky enough to go away with my local quilt group, Kilmore Quilters last weekend. Our 4 day retreat was to the Alpine Ash retreat at Toolangi. We had a great time with lots of laughter and fun, of course, some sewing too.
This is what I got up to.....

5 BLANKETS OF LOVE  for CHERYLL

Another jigsaw puzzle quilt for the boys. This one is a little different. I ran out of some larger fabric and was left with smaller pieces. So I decided to cut some 6" squares and fit them into a 12" to give a different look.

And of course we visited The Patchwork Teahouse in Warburton for lunch and shopping.

We also had Anna's Patchwork Quilt shop from Taggerty visit us

In the Xmas spirit

I have been working on some Xmas presents.
These are a Xmas tree wall hanging with a difference. They are a panel that you quilt & bind.
Then you put 20 eyelets in certain spots that will make the stars shine. On the back you attach a string of Xmas lights, poking the globes through to the front & placing the battery pack into a pocket on the back. Turn it on and look at it sparkle.
I still have to sew down the rod casing, do the eyelets & put in the lights.
It will look stunning when it's finished.

Flannel Blankets of Love

I found some pieces of Flannelette so I thought I would use it up and make some "blankets of love" for Cheryll to pass on to the hospital.
These are 11" blankets with flannelette on either one side or both sides.
I have also made "MEMORY PATCHES" to go with them.

OMG I was nearly "NEARLY INSANE"

Here is this months Nearly Insane blocks I got done. This is being done with some others at Kilmore Quilters. Instead of leaving all the half blocks and the hard ones to last we are getting them spread through the months.
OMG.....This block drove me crazy. I was really nearly labelled INSANE.  It took me 7 hours to make a 6" block. I think it turned out pretty well. It is not really square but it is done. I don't think, at this stage, I will try to redo it. My friend thinks i am INSANE for doing this quilt.

Say goodbye to friends

My 2 weeks stay with my friend have come to an end.
So have these beautiful views.

Look at the waves breaking and rolling in.
The sound of these is just so relaxing.

Then there is the lovely garden to sit and have a break.

I just love the " bird of paradise" plants growing in the garden.

I have had a great time sewing with my friend. It has been a very productive time but I have another retreat to go to.

Phillip Island here I come....
