My sewing room is ready and off to a new group.

I have sorted out my sewing room. Well as best as it can be at the moment. At least I can get the sewing machine on...
My new sewing room.

I am making this block 5 times for our little group. One for each person. I still have to add the needle and thread. I have done 2 so far. I hope to get the other 3 done over the next week.
Friendship block

I am also going to a new group tonight. They are making a patchwork car cover for their show using odd blocks. I am taking a few orphan blocks to donate and to see how they do it... I'll soon find out how else I can help.

My Sunday stitching

I was lucky enough to have a lazy day today. So what did I do? SEW, SEW, SEW.......
I am still working on block 31 of the splendid sampler blocks. I have done some later ones but this one is taking me forever....
Not to worry. It's getting done slowly...
The rosettes are done

My layout
Now I'm off to finish the night sewing the rosettes together.

So it's a good day to link up with Kathy for Slow Sunday Stitching...

Some craft is still happening

All be it slowly but it is happening....
While everything has been boxed up I have managed to finish a crochet blanket with lots of scraps used up. The pattern was shown and given to me by a friend. Thanks Lyn. I love this pattern and it is so easy once you get going. I need the instructions to get started again but I think this will be my blanket to go to when I have left over yarns....
A great use of scraps

A nice size blanket

I have slowly been working on one of the splendid sampler blocks. EPP hexagons. Keep in mind that these are being put onto a 6" block. They are tiny. Not my favourite stitching so it is going very slowly. I keep avoiding picking it up. Here goes. At least I have started...

Moving in

Well, our furniture is in. The truck is empty. The boxes are stacked up. The fun begins and we are already exhausted. There are the usual things to do first up. Get all the appliances plugged in and turned on, change all the locks, make sure everything works, buy this and that.....
Try to work out where everything will go. Catch up on the washing. Find all the clothes.
Get some grocery shopping done.
NOW SIT AND RELAX WITH A GLASS OF WINE...

Our bed is ready

Another SPLENDID SAMPLER block

I am so far behind in making these blocks. Being chair bound and not able to use my machine has made it hard. I have accomplished some hand stitched ones over the last few weeks. The machine ones will have to wait until my new sewing room is set up when we move... Not long now....
Splendid Sampler . No. 31
And here are 2 more blocks my lovely friend Sue has prepared for me....
Thanks Sue. You are helping keep busy...

FRIENDS

Recently a close quilting friend passed away after suffering a short battle with cancer..
I have been part of this group about 13 years... There were 5 now only 4...
To help us deal with it we decided to make some blocks for all of us..
We make 2 designs of 12.5" blocks. Anything we want, anyway we want... But we have to make 5 of each... Then we will pass 1 to each of us. Rhonda is making 3 designs. This will give us all 9 blocks each. We will put together a quilt for Jill's husband to comfort him. Then we can all make what we want with the blocks.
This is my first design... A lovely saying and 5 hearts for 5 lovely ladies.
Each heart represents one of us in our favourite colour..

A beautiful saying with 5 lovely hearts...

All 5 blocks.
Now to get the next block designed....

My friendship blocks from the Heathcote Quilter girls...

Here is a photo of all my blocks I made for the Heathcote Quilting group.
There were 16 of us that participated. So here are 15 blocks that I made to show you. I haven't made the 16th one yet. That block is for me. We all had to write done a theme we wanted and a colour. So the list was made. Then with this list we had to choose a technique to make everyone's block in....
My technique was STAINED GLASS. It was a real challenge choosing everyone's themes and colours. There were Japanese, butterflies, free choice, Xmas, Autumn, houses, geometric and flowers... Look what I decided...

So here are the blocks I received.
My theme was baskets of flowers and red & white colours....
They are all supposed to be 8.5"....
RED and WHITE BASKETS OF FLOWERS
There are a lot of techniques. None of the members have participated in this type of swap before...
I am going to make my stained glass block about 20" with a basket on point and strips on the corners...

A dinner with friends

I had a busy day doing business, catching up with lots of friends and saying goodbyes before we move. I only took the one photo of two of my friends and I together. It's been a long time since we were all together. We had such a good laugh.
Enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Kealba hotel.
