VOLUNTEER of the YEAR AWARD 2019

A couple of weeks ago my boss asked if my work colleague, Tracy and I, would represent our company at the local employment/training organisation for their AGM. or so I thought.
So today we headed off to attend and to my surprise it was a set up.
As the meeting went on it came to the time to present local achievements. Next, it was about me.
I was presented with the VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR 2019 AWARD for all my charity sewing for Aussie Hero Quilts, Laundry bags, donated quilts to children's funds, humidicrib covers, beanies for the local hospital and many other projects.
I am so overwhelmed. I do this because I love it. I have had such great support from my fellow stitchers and I thank them very much. They have been there for me in my time of need and it is great to spread a good thing around...
I am over the moon....
Thank you to SUNRAYSIA PATCHWORK FRIENDS for nominating me.

Look at these beautiful flowers.
They were so heavy to hold and are definitely the most lushest ones I have ever received.

Here I am being awarded with my certificate and flowers.
I am so overwhelmed...

I would like to thank everyone who I have sewn with over the years. They have all supported and inspired me to continue sewing. I have been inspired by many of my friends and they are the ones who deserve just as much recognition as me.
Thank you to all my fellow quilting friends.
Let's keep on stitching to not only make us happy but to all those who we sew for.

Xmas pot holders and microwave bowl holders ready for gifts.

I'm making these pot holders for my quilt group Xmas gifts. Everyone going to the Xmas break up will receive one. I will also include 3 * recipe cards and maybe a chocolate.
I have quilted and cut out all the pads and fabric for the pockets. All I have to do is assemble them with sewing on lots of bias binding.
There are 35 cut out to sew.

We were talking at work about these holders. Some ladies hadn't heard of them, others use them and some more wanted them.
I've had a bit of fun making some microwave bowl holders.
They are made out of ALL cotton wadding, fabric & thread.
These are suitable for a couple of minutes in the microwave to reheat your food.
I started with a 10" square, marked the centre of the sides to mak darts. Mark 1" out from the centres and 2 1/4" towards the centre of the square. They are very quick and easy to make.

All in a stack ready to take to work.
Hopefully I'll sell some.

More wool work

I'm nearly finished this block knitted blanket. Just some ends to sew in.
It really was fun to knit and it used a lot of scraps too.

This one is little size blocks that will get bigger and bigger.
These blocks measure about 2"  square

I have started another crochet rug. As you can see I grab 1 ball of scrap yarn and use untilmit runs out. That means I need to work on one project at a time. A little bit here and on to the next for a little bit. Sometimes I even knit a beanie first.

Slow stitching & Tea Bag knitting.

It has been a while since my last post. ( my confession ) I just find it hard to be motivated and spend a lot of time reading blogs rather than typing them.
Anyway, please know I am still around.

My lovely friend Rosie stopped by for a visit while travelling on holidays.
She is knitting  the famous "TEA BAG " scarf.
I had one enevelope here full of strings so that was passed on to her for knitting while travelling.
Then I received another package in the mail from Jenni. Thank you. These packages are so appreciated. Thankyou for everyone supporting my friends.

I am part of a Xmas swap over at QUILTING AROUND THE WORLD and my gift is done. Here is the back of what I have made. This is a fun swap and all will be revealed when my recipient receives her parcel.

It's been so long since I have sat and stitched by hand.
Here is only a little bit but at least I did some.

AND I TOTALLY ENJOYED IT.
