Apologies if I haven’t got back to some of you if you have left comments. Blogger is not sending them through to my email again. Why do they keep changing things? It is so frustrating. I am checking every couple of days but it is more time consuming. So SORRY.
NOW FOR THE SEWING STUFF…..
Before I could start quilting I needed to give my machine some love
Look at that dust
I was in an international swap with some ladies in the USA back in 2019. We each had to make multiple book blocks and another item on a bookshelf block. In return I received many blocks from other people. I managed to finish the top in 2020. It was basted in 2021 and started quilted in December 2022.
I will have to do another label to show the completion date.
I had done more quilting on this quilt than initially thought.
Trouble was the bobbin thread was coming through to the front on the black fabric. The thread kept on breaking. This was probably the reason for putting it in the cupboard.
So I got started.
Took my time and the sewing went much better. I have nearly finished the black background areas.
I am using glide thread which is very slippery. I found these little clips that fit onto bobbins. They keep the thread from unravelling
I wound a couple of bobbins ready for a sewing session.
I tried a few flowers on the border. My machine was sewing well. I am not the most even quilters but I am happy with what I do. There are a mix of flowers. No set design. Just whatever happens.
This quilt might see a finish…

Blogger seems to have issues all the time, not like when I started.
Oh the machine sure needed some love….
Nice quilting on the Book Shelf quilt.
I did have that problem too - I posted a question in a blog help community page,,,,adn now my comments have all come through - I was blaming "Alfie" the cyclone that wasnt . . .but hang in there...maybe they will come back.
The quilting is going well...black can be a terror!
Love the little clips - I use clear tubing form Bunnings - I think its about 15mm across - cut down the tube then into 1/4" pieces, .....very cheap and less bulky
It’s bugger
Oh this sounds interesting. I might get some to try
Blogger is just a pain at times. My Tony found a way to move our entire blogs over to another platform, maybe I should look in to it. Your quilting looks good.
I love the quilting look with the glide thread. I've now had two sewing machines maintained by Ludwig who has a mobile Sewing Machine Maintenance business. He is great, and gets into all parts of the machine. He was able to remove the component that caught on fire the other day after I had cleaned it. Both machines now purr like kittens.
It is always amazing how much fluff accumulates. Good job. I can’t wait to see the quilt finished. It will be stunning.
I am finally getting comments via email, after not getting them for a long time. Weird, huh?
Oh, all that dust--makes me think it is probably time for me to give my machine a thorough dusting.
I love bookshelf quilts, but don't know if I would have a clue how to quilt one. Kudos to you for tackling yours and making it happen!
blogger is temperamental that's for sure....lovely machine quilting...i can barely manage straight lines...lol....love the yellow kawandi, placemats and that wee zipper purse!
