Helping a friend in need.

One of the ladies in our group was making a lovely quilt (large quilt) for a relative for Xmas. To post to Perth in the new year.. Well it just so happens another relative is coming over from Perth for Xmas. Take advantage of that, get the quilt finished, hand delivered and no postage.... Good plan... UNTIL.
My friend was put into hospital for a knee replacement at 3 weeks notice... The quilt was only just started. She managed to get the top and back pieced just in time. I took it over for her and have quilted it and attached the binding. Now she is home she can get started on hand stitching the binding down and still feel like it was her work.. Well,it is her work and she has done a lovely job.

She did say she was hoping for a quilt from me but thought it rude to mention it.

Of  course I would make one for her....

A day in the City with friends.

My neighbour and I try and go out for a Xmas bit of fun every year. Well this year I had a mother friend stay from interstate and she came with us.
In to the city we went. To the NGV National Gallery of Victoria.
Their display was called BLUE. Showing shades of blue textiles.... Cobalt, Indigo.  Very nice.

This is a beautiful CAPE. It has a centre of waxed paper.
This was put in to help with the wind and make it water resistant.

Yes my friends both bought some buttons. That was a mission of ours for the day.

After a great trip in, tram ride, exhibition, beautiful lunch, big long  walk and some shopping it was time to go home. Arrived home exhausted but had the best day... A girls day out is always worth it....Thanks ladies...

The wildlife we have here.

It has been an interesting time at our house recently.
We had our front hedge cut down and it looks really bare now. BUT we have discovered some birds nests... 2 infact. There is one hidden in a tree and another in the lavender bush. They are little black birds with an orange beak. I haven't been able to get a photo of the mums....

Day 2. These 2 have now grown a few feathers.

Another Christmas Lunch

I enjoyed a great day out with my Heathcote quilt group. As you can see by the photos there was a few of us sitting around chatting. We had a lovely meal at the HEATHCOTE WINERY. A beautiful roast then a very sweet pavlova. The weather was just lovely.

We did do a little Xmas gift swap. You put a parcel in and you get one out....

It was to be a little Xmas decoration..

This is what I got and I will definitely be making some of these next year...

( I must say that I am having trouble with my photo program lately. It was easy for me to get my photos up and edit them then add them to my blog. Well it's not so easy at the moment. My usual program has disappeared so I am doing my best with what I can find..)

We knew who our partner was so we could talk, ask questions and follow their blog to find out their interests... We had to make a bag, stocking or Santa sack. Then make 5 gifts to be wrapped and stay there until we got the go ahead with opening day when everyone had received their parcels...
Well Sarah I love the bag and especially the cute fabric.
 I can't wait to open these. It's great I'll have a good pile of goodies to open come Xmas day.

Catch up with friends

I was setting up a day to catch up with SHEZ  and to meet CHERYL

Cheryl was my Xmas in July partner and seeing how she meets up with others I now know I wanted to meet her in person too. I didn't want to miss out. So a day to Maldon was planned or so I thought.

As we know the best planned days get changed and we ended up in Ballarat. Well 6 of us met up.

We had a fun shopping day. The stores will never be the same again. I wonder if we will be let back in... We did have some fun though. Yes I did meet the lovely Cheryl too.

A hard week turned good....

As some of you may know last Friday was my sons 3rd anniversary since his accident. This in itself is hard to deal with but it was also thank an ORGAN DONOR day on the 22nd. With us allowing my sons organs to be donated he saved 6 other lives and the future of so many families. It is something everyone and their families should consider.

On the good side it was my husband, Tony, 60th birthday.

So let's run away for some quiet time together.

We packed Basil Bus and headed for Boort. Well that was the plan. When we got there no one was at the caravan park or answering the phone... So we kept driving.

Here we are now in KERANG. This is a lovely spot...

We woke up to a beautiful day.
