My curved log cabin block

I have managed to get my Curved Log Cabin block done. I am using my scraps for this project. Over at Angela's it is a BLUE month. I am linking up with http://superscrappy.blogspot.com.au for the last Saturday of January. I worked out the measurements for me to follow to do more of these blocks. One important thing I learnt was that the last round of tone on tone must measure 3/4". Then when I sew the 4 units together the outside border will match. Very useful thing to remember..... The other pieces won't matter if they are not exactly the same. This full block measures 21.5" unfinished. Even though it took most of the day it is still a good block for an easy quilt. Yes it was done out of my scrap bucket

I look forward to making a new colour each month for RSC15

I enjoy making log cabins because it is a quick way to check my seam allowance. I especially love log cabins that are unique like this one. It looks like fun to make.

That's a great block style. You wouldn't need too many to make a quilt with the blocks finishing so big. Are you making a sort of sampler quilt with all your blocks.

I'll bet that if you had cut yardage for this block it wouldn't have been as interesting. Wow... that many strips and it's still only 21.5"? Love it. Good way to use up the strips.

Jo, nice work on your curved Log Cabin. I like how you kept your values balanced. It's hard when you work with scraps! You said it took you all afternoon, and I believe you. This is one of those blocks, though, that really wows you when it all comes together! Thanks for visiting me over on Pink Doxies!
