mums old iron

I was reading here on Egleas blog about her old iron.
As you regulars know my mum recently passed away and I have been sorting out her household things. Boy did mum have a lot of interesting things. I have found this old iron.

It is very cute. And so much smaller than the irons we use today...
Here it is with my little scissors to give you some idea of size....

Wow! That is so neat! You don't see them anymore. I remember my grandmothers had heavy irons they sat on the wood stoves in the kitchen. They were small, too. Smaller than our electric irons. Heavy, too. I remember when they used them, they had a pot holder on the handle. I have no idea where they are today. Would sure hate to have one of them to fall on a toe! Ouch!

My MIL had several and they were all small - I guess if they'd been bigger they would have been too heavy to use. She used them as door stops, very effective. Thanks for sharing yours. You reminded me of the grand old girl.
