Tracing stitcheries

I have a friend who has broken/shattered her leg/knee.
So to keep her busy I am tracing some stitcheries.
Sending them off in the post. If she manages to get them done, well good on her..
It doesn't matter if they take years.
I borrowed a light box from another quilting friend and off I went.
I think I need one of these.

I bought these patterns many years ago.
They are so cute.

I have finished tracing LETTERS TO SANTA.

Now I am on to tracing WINTER WONDERLAND.

This should keep my friend busy for a while.

PIGGY BANK CHALLENGE

I took part in Vals Piggy Bank Challenge. Saving some change through the year.
They pot I used last year was not big enough. I did manage to collect $144.10..
So I am doing it again this year. YES IM SIGNING UP.
With the money I saved this is what I have bought..
A new money box to start saving more.

I bought 2 metres of this lovely grey fabric to go in my next quilt.
And about 20 skeins of stranded thread. I have a few projects in mind.

Look at this panel. How cute is it. It has the centre, borders and a stuffed toy. All you need to buy is the border & backing fabric. That's easier said and done. I can't find anything in a matching green.
I'll keep looking.

This panel makes a book.

If you want to join in the fun and save your coins go over to Vals and have a look.

How much can I save this time..

A SAD WEEK, a quilting SAL & a HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Unfortunately last week my FIL passed away. Only 2 weeks after finding out he was ill again.
He was moved into palliative care in a home days before his passing. Luckily my MIL was moved into a room into the home too. At least now she won't be alone. She will have people to talk to, no cooking or cleaning to do and hopefully will go on some outings and participate in activities.
We know she will be looked after.
It is a 10-11 hour drive to see her but we will do it from time to time.
So,, GOOD BYE DAD.

Now for some happier news.

I cut up all these pieces and put them in an envelope for my friends birthday.
I am sharing a SAL with our group and thought she would like to join in.
When I was cutting mine out I did hers as well.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAXINE.
Have fun..

Here is the link if you want to SAL too. I made this last year and thought it was so cute. I am making another one this year. Sarah has some wonderful designs so go and take a look.
A CHRISTMAS MINI.

Mend or New

Here is my hubbies bike vest.
He has had it for many years. It was second hand when we got it. It's had a lot of wear.
Always worn over his leathers. It became a bit too tight years ago so I cut the sides, hemmed it, put eyelets in and laced a large boot lace through.
It fits...
you can just see a little bit of the inside colour on the bottom band. It shows how much it has faded.

The button holes have all been patched up. I'm not sure how long they will last.

I fused on some heavy fabric to the inside then heavily free motioned mending style.
It looks very rough but he will get a few more wears out of it.

The collar is so worn out..
I'm scared to wash it in case it falls apart.
I think I'm going to have to search the op shops for a replacement but it can't be brand new though.

Suitable for a boy?????

I know you have seen this quilt a few months back.
Well I'm wondering if it's suitable for a boy.
The girl I'm thinking of giving it to has just found out it's a boy she will be having.
She is decorating the room in whites, greys & mint green.
I'm just a little worried about the peach in it..

What are your thoughts?..

Look at these beauties.

Hubby and I were looking for a display cabinet so he took me to a shop near his work.
I never knew it was there. It was a great old shop.
Look at these beauties.
The only thing was they ranged between $200-$400 .
And who knows if they even work. They were not in very good condition.

Sorry about the colouring of the photos but it was a gloomy day and there was no lighting in the shop.

Unfollow they are a little tooo pricey here.

Charity

Our sewing group made about 100 breast cancer cushions.
That's a great effort.

And look at some of these that have been stuffed.
We are donating them to 2 different charities.

A little knitting

I made these cute bunny snuggle blankets.
We have a few girls at work that are expecting babies so I'm using up some odd balls of yarn.
This is using a CHENNILE yarn.

Here is the link to a fast easy pattern you can make for a gift.

Look at this lovely Lacey scarf.
It's knitted on fine needles in a feather and fan design.
Guess what? It's made with used tea bag strings.
They are tea stained and that gives them all the lovely shades.
There are about 6,00o used.

No, I'm not the crazy one.

Might be sick with the flu but I can still sew to pass away some time.

I've been off work for a couple of days with the flu. So I spent some time each day finishing off this secret sewing project..

I'm relieved it's done before the deadline.
Always a great feeling.
The binding is done and photos have been taken.

Piggy Bank Savings time to count it up.....

I started off last year with this cute little pot.
Well, my hubby kept emptying his pockets and it overflowed.

Now to count it all after I have spread it out on the table.
I didnt realise so much would fit in this pot.

A grand total of $144.10

Now to think of what I will go and buy.

Thanks Val. I'll be joint in again this year.

Family

Our daughter, son in law and grandsons went to visit her grand parents.

They got a shock to see Poppa not looking the best.

Unfortunately, my father in law has taken a turn for the worst and has been hospitalised.
He won't be going back home so a room in a home is being sourced.
A very sad time.

Simple appliqué with a difference

Here is my friend working really hard carefully attaching the lace around her butterfly.

I just love this shape dog. He looks really cute.

This was cleverly cut out from the design.
Yep, it's the negative fabric. How good do the two look together.
They were made into matching cushions.

Look at this lovely butterfly. Has a stained glass look with pretty fabrics showing through the holes.
Beautiful batik background and a sweet black lace around the edges...

That was the end of our day.
