HOG Bike quilt plan for a DONATION
My hubby's bike group was having their AGM.
e wanted me to make a quilt for him to donate.
WHY NOT!!!! I make them for everyone else and give them away.
The only thing was that the AGM was 2 weeks away. So I did a lot sf searching ideas, the fabric boxes and came up with a start. Not a full plan but I knew something would work.
I started drawing, cutting, measuring and hoping for the best.
He started cooking, cleaning and shopping. We work well together.

Ironed on the applique design but still needs stitching.

HOW TO KNIT THE CELTIC WEAVE SCARF
I have had lots of interest in my scarf so I thought I'd write how I did it.
Give it a go....
Use matching needles to yarn ply. Not a tight finish.
Give it a go....
Use matching needles to yarn ply. Not a tight finish.
You also need a stitch holder or large pin for every group of 8 sts.
Cast on 32 / 40 / 48 sts. (Multiples of 8) *** mine was 40sts & about a 12ply yarn - 5.5mm
Work as far in garter st as you want. I did about 48rows.
Measure the width of work. Across the sts.
Now have your pins/holders ready. Don't be scared.
TAILS...... Only work on 8sts.. either garter st or stocking st.
Work until this is about 1 inch shorter than the measurement you just took. Now put them on to a stitch holder.
Repeat this for every group of 8 sts you have.
Now. Put them all on to one needle and knit for 18" - 22" depending on how tight you want it around your neck.
REPEAT....
TAILS..... Only work on 8sts.. either garter st or stocking st.
Work these until the same length as the first group of tails.
Now put them on to a stitch holder.
Repeat this for every group of 8 sts you have.
******
WEAVE THESE TAILS IN BETWEEN THE OTHER TAILS AT THE OTHER END. Be careful not to twist the tails.
******
AGAIN....
Put them all on to one needle and knit for the same amount of rows that you did at the beginning.
CAST OFF.
You can add tassels if you want to.
Here is a tutorial as well.

CELTIC KNITTED SCARF
It has been a lot cooler and I haven't been doing too much sewing.
I wanted to do something that was quick and didn't require much thinking.
So I searched Pinterest and this is what I decided...
I can't believe how easy this scarf and hat was to Knit.
It took 2 balls of yarn from Big W. It knitted beautifully and soft. I think I need to go buy some more in a different colour.
It is very warm and is plenty big enough for a cold winters day.
I love it and will make another one. Maybe a little different for variety.

Mystery quilt with SPF
Every year a few from our group has a mystery quilt sewing night as a fundraiser. We all bring a dish for dinner, do a bit of sewing and make a donation to cancer research.
This year I think we raised $300.
Well done to everyone.
Sandra prepares the instructions and guidance.
Now on to the sewing. We got some cutting & sewing preparation work instructions.
Here is the finished block.
Now for me to get my quilt top done to look like this...
The finished quilt.

A special Mother's Day SURPRISE.
MOTHERS DAY 2019
My daughter surprised me with booking a lunch at a nice restaurant we had not been too before.
It was for a 5 course meal. Fully paid for with a beautiful bottle of bubbly to go with it.
AMAZING.
1st course.
Salmon, cream cheese in a waffle cone.
This was served too cold and there was too much cream cheese.
If it was served at room temp with chilled salmon it would have been so much better.
I ate them though.
Course 2 - a seafood platter.
Mussels - yummy
Oyserts - both natural & kilpatrick - yummy
Salt n pepper quid- salty but cooked lovely
Baby Octopus - this was a first for me - I'm ok with them
Croquettes - hubby liked them
Meat balls? - very dry and needed a dipping sauce... didn't eat them
Duck liver pate & toasty bread - yummy.
Black Squid Ink pasta. Served with lobster.
Well they can keep it. This is the first time I have tried squid ink and I did not like it.
This dish was extremely salty and very unappealing.
I had stuffed chicken with mash. DELICIOUS.
I'm sitting here watching Master Chef as I type this. We had panacotta for dessert which was very creamy and yummy. It was nothing like the ones that epwere being made on master chef dessert week. BUT this was mine and I loved it.
Each mum was given this spider plant as a gift for their day.
It is a very basic plant which I owned many years ago. The reason being that it lived without any care. I needed a plant for my main bathroom so it will sit nicely in the hanging basket cone.
Thank you to my lovely daughter and son-in-law for a wonderful Mother's Day surprise.

I am still here.----- NOW FOR QUILTING.
I can't believe it has been so long since I have posted...
I have all the excuses as everyone else..
Busy, sick, not motivated, can't be bothered, tired, lazy, cold, tired, etc........
THE LIST GOES ON.
I have been doing little bits of sewing but not a great deal. The knitting and crochet has been on my lap. I'm not a fan of coming home from work in the dark. All I want to do is sit curled up under a quilt. I have been reading blogs and enjoyed what everyone has been doing.
I am home sick at the moment and the knitting needles are clacking away.
I have also joined up with

TEABAG STRINGS HELP PLEASE.....
My friend is making these beautiful scarves.
She has run out of strings.
Each one takes about 4.000. - 6,000 strings.
They use your everyday tea bag strings.
Make a cup of tea, with a bag.
Break off the string, put into a bag, throw the tea leaf bag away, send the bag/tag to me.....
It is hard to get so many strings to knit.
I really need your help.
The tags go to charity to supply equipment. These would normally go into the rubbish.
Put a bowl on your bench, collect the strings/tags, send them to me.
THEY WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE...
Contact me for my address to post the strings.
