Baby quilt Finishes

I've had a good few days sewing. Quilting and binding.
I had so much fun quilting this ABC quilt. I made it larger than the basic pattern by adding alternating blocks of a cute story book fabric.

My boss and his wife had a gorgeous little girl yesterday and this was what I gifted them.
They have a 2 year old who just loved it. He can learn to read with all the letters. I laid out the alphabet the same way we learnt to sing them.
It is so bright and cheerful.

This one measures 40" * 51"

This is a super cute Forest design measures 44" * 58"
It started as a panel with 4 prints but I left one out as it's colour was just too pink.
Then I strip pieced coordinating fabrics and cut to make fit.
Very happy.

I love this bee fabric so I just bought 1/2 metres and 1 metre lengths.

This quilt measures 39 1/2" * 59 1/2"

The happy trio.

That's a total of 14.80 metres / 584" of binding

A day of yellows

I started out with this tub of yellows..

And made an easy block... A simple 9 patch

Here are my 4 catch up blocks for a couple of weeks.

Why is it that you make a block,  take a photo  and still dont see the mistake.

Then when you quilt it the mistake shows... OH NO!!!!!

I can't believe it's the last Saturday of February.
So yellows it is and linking up with Angela.

I still have Mari's

JESS' JUNK

Jess' Junk

SOME OF US STRUGGLE, SOME OF US LIVE, SOME OF US SURVIVE AND SOME DON'T.. THE ONES THAT ARE READING THIS ARE LIVING, GROWING AND MOVING ON.......

This is so dear to my heart and many of the people around me.
My gorgeous friends lost their dear niece to this dreaded disease.
She struggled to have a family, given to her by a dear special friend. Not once but twice.

After one rally of support & Strength in numbers, funds were raised.

The battle didn't last but most of us move on and keep living. Leaving her husband and 2 beautiful boys behind her family are staying strong.
She was a beautiful lady, one I had known since
birth.
Like many others we have lost a loved one or more to CANCER.

I also recently lost my mother & my father-in-law to CANCER. I have also lost many friends. Somewhere there has to be an answer. We have to rally together, give our strength and support and hopefully one day there will be a better future for everyone.

My wonderful friend Michael is doing this rally for JESS --- October 19th - 25th
HIS CAR IS NAMED JESS' JUNK.....

He has never done this type of travel before so it will be a real challenge. One where we will be following along and hopefully you too.

I can only ask for you to help support his trip to raise more funds for the dreaded CANCER bug.

Let's Raise some funds

PLEASE HAVE A LOOK, CONSIDER AND DONATE TO SUCH A WORTHY CAUSE FOR ALL OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS.

For all my cyber friends, friends and my dearest closest friends and family who have in some way been touched with this disease,  we will survive.

ANYONE WHO READS THIS PLEASE HELP WITH A SMALL DONATION. GROUP TOGETHER TO MAKE A DONATION AND CHANGE OUR FUTURE.

To all my beautiful family and friends, wether you are here or gone, I love you and will always remember you.

LET'S HELP MICHAEL EXCEED  HIS GOAL...

ON RINGO LAKE top is done.

I am so happy this is now a top.
It has taken a very long time. Some of which I nearly gave in but as the saying goes.
SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE.
I got to the finish line.

All I have to do is quilt it now.

I didn't buy anything to make this. It just shows that all the little bits left over can make good and be beautiful.

Scrappy maze

One of my friends at my quilt group gave me a bag of scraps.
All these strings of scraps that had been sewn together. They measure 2" wide and there is metres of them. They were left overs from her quilt and she didn't want to do anything with them.
I love the challenge.

I had this idea I would sew the strips in a log cabin fashion. The darks will be like a slithering snake.  Going round and round. To where, nobody knows.
I am adding odd bits of left over neutrals to seperate the darks.  These neutrals may not be the same widths. I am just using what I have on hand.

So far...
I'm happy with how these blocks are turning out.
I'm not sure how these will end up or what size the blocks will be.

I'll just keep sewing them until the scraps run out and that's the size the quilt top will be.

Borders are going on my ON RINGO LAKE.

Wow, on to the next step. Cutting the points off ready to sew a new pieced end.
PLEASE LET ME MEASURE AND CUT CORRECTLY.

Sewing on these tips makes me feel very close to adding borders.

All the border setting triangles are ready to be stitched.

I have sewn the first 5 rows together. It is really feeling like I will get this finished.

BONNIE HUNTER's -- ON RINGO LAKE -- making progress.

This is such a big project that has been going longer than a year.
It will get there.
Happily sewing my blocks together..

All piled up ready for ironing.

Oh no... I've sewn them wrong. Why is it you don't notice it until you are ironing them..

Pulled apart and now ready to sew back together

Now isn't that so much better..

Both sewn and ready for another iron and into the top it goes..

Here are my blocks laid out.

Just need some more sashings and the brown corner stars.

I'm so happy to have my top this far done.
It has taken a while but slow and steady..

The start of yellows

I started to sort out my yellow scraps ready to sew this month along with Angela.

Sewing my crumbs together to make fabric big enough to cut a certain size out.
These will then become a beautiful butterfly block.

Charity Blocks made for quilts.

Here is a great block to put together from all your lovely scraps.
Our group decided this was a great block to make.
We had a sewing day and 28 blocks were made.
Then we have hade more added.
I'm sure we will get many charity quilts put together for charity.
We are making the quilts 4* 5 blocks totalling 20 blocks per quilt.

I actually liked this one. But others wanted extra on the sides.
I think I will still sew one this way.

This was one of the groups favourites

It was fun to show everyone the different layouts that can be created.

There are so many layouts to choose from.

I got this great block idea from Carole.

It's a very easy design. If you are able to help her charity get involved.
Have a read and see what you can do.

Yarn -- KNITTED DISHCLOTH

I still have some odd balls of 8 ply cotton to use up. I came across this fun dishcloth pattern so thought I'd give it a go.
It only took me a night to do, while watching a movie. It didn't even take the whole ball.

I will make more of these. They were fun.

The pattern is a free download from RAVELRY.
Design by THERESA L. JONES.

I might knit one in yellow because Feruary over at Angela's is YELLOW.

END OF REDS

I've been sewing along with Angela making these little 4.5" blocks.

This is a cute background fabric from my friends bag of scraps.

I love this Cat...

A cute heart block went together easily.

The lighting is bad. Sorry.
I'll try to get a better one.

The lighting was terrible. This is a very dull colouring but a cute block.

Here are all 5 of January blocks together.

I have caught up with TINY TUESDAY's January RED blocks over at

Each week Angela has a special design block up on her blog.

I'm also linking up with CYNTHIA @ OH SCRAP
