Mystery quilt, zoom and a quilt top.

Last week Chooky had a zoom session. While chatting to everyone I prepared for a mystery quilt class that was held today.

In January if we wanted to participate we had to hand in 80 5.5” squares to the coordinator. These squares could be any print, plain or patterned, novelties or themed. Just cut them to 5.5” and hand them in. They were then split and mixed together. We had 29 packs handed in. Once they were sorted we got a pack back  and had to sew them together into a 16 patch. Just mix them up.

So here is mine. Auditioning the sashings we needed to cut ready for the class.

With the help of the zoom ladies I decided on this patterned green.

Time for class today. All set up.

Step one was to cut the 4 blocks apart. Like a disappearing block.

Switch them around and sew them back together

Sew the sashings on and add corner stones.

About 20 ladies turned up on the day. Most got the top done. Here are a few at the end of the day. Some ladies left early so I didn’t get their photos.

A great pattern for using up lots of scraps.

Well done ladies & I kind of remember an article similar to that in an old Australian quilt publication many years ago. I've a humongous amount of scraps, so must keep that in mind. Thank you. Take care & hugs.

The Mystery is looking great.
Always surprising how different the same pattern turns out with different borders.

What a clever, yet simple mystery design. It looks like it was fun

It looks like a fun mystery with the cutting, switching, sewing, and recutting/reswitching. Looks like many of the group members got it done too!
