Birthday fat quarter parcels & my BLOG BOOK

My quilt group has a thing going on for any member that wants to take part. You put your name on the list at the start of the year , nominate a fat quarter you want and the year begins. My choice is BATIKs as I don’t have any. You get the list and each month at our gathering when it’s your birthday you receive fat quarter from everyone on the list. This year we have 17 on the list.

I have decided to make it fun and make a special gift wrapping for them.

Aren’t these fun. They are made out of one sheet of scrapbooking paper (a thick one). Then add a simple square to keep the top together. I have used this as the name tag too.

I think they are cute... These ones were for the January members. We don’t have anyone in February so I can get a lot of them made during this month to be ahead of time.

MY BLOG BOOK.

I had last years blog posts printed into a book. I was so excited when it arrived in the Mail. It’s not as big as all the other years. Just goes to show I didn’t do many posts or much sewing through the COVID year.

Scrap Happy Pink Saturday...

With the weather being very warm here on Saturday I thought I would play in my sewing room. I cleaned up a container per of scraps and sorted through for all the pinks. This months colour for the RSC21

https://superscrappy.blogspot.com/2021/01/still-one-more-pink-saturday.html

I wanted to make some library bags and pencil cases  to send to Jan Mac in Melbourne.

I made 4 sets with the scraps and cleared most of the pile. It was a great day of sewing.

If you want the pattern to make these super easy bags & pencil cases have a look at
THREADING MY WAY... . They are free and have tutorials.. EASY ..

A day of quilting....

Well I decided to bite the bullet and hire the quilting frame at our local quilt shop. I had my Bonnie Hunter ON RINGO LAKE quilt top dropped off with the backing and wadding. Helen was wonderful and had it all loaded before I got there for the day.

Helen helped me roll it on each time. She was great.

Look at the quilting pattern. I love it.

It’s a huge quilt measuring 76” * 90”. I can see the end and a couple more runs and it will be done....

I chose a dark brown backing and used latte coloured thread. The quilting design matches the backing really well.

And 6 hours later I had it quilted.

I am exhausted, my feet and back are killing me. Time for a rest now...
It definitely was well worth it. All I have to do now is trim it then bind it....

MY LINK BUTTON WORKS — Slow Stitching Sunday

Omg. It has taken me a month but I have figured it out...

Nothing to do with the link button.

On the left hand side of the edit screen there is a pencil with a drop down arrow.
I click on that and change to compose view and it all works perfect....

It’s about time I got this sorted. I was pulling my hair out....

So now I have got over that hurdle I am sitting in for the day, watching tv and slow stitching my binding on the nearly 2nd finish this year.
This quilt was done as a mystery night fundraiser back in 2016 for breast cancer.
I got it quilted last weekend. This is my February UFO finish for my quilt group sew along..

Here is the quilted top in the bright sunshine.

Then in the shade. Look how different the colour shows.

Now for the backing which shows up the quilting.

And today I am on to stitching the binding.

Have a look over here to see what Kathy is up to..

FNSI & SCRAPHAPPY SATURDAY

HELP NEEDED...... Can any one give me suggestions how i can get my links to work. When I am doing my post I click on the link button, paste the copied address, but when my post shows on my blog nothing shows. No link or address shows. I have tried everything I can think of. Logged out, updated, logged in,tried again manytimes over. Nothing is working. I have never had this problem before....AND I cant get spaces between my paragraphs or when i want something to start on the next line it just continues into one body of text...
EDITED ...... I got link button to work

Well, I didnt sew these on Saturday but I did do them during the week so I could link up today. I was given a bag of brown scraps that had already been sewn together into strips and crosscut into 1 1/2" strips. What was I to do with them.
I know.. Cut some 1 1/2" strips of neutrals and sew them together. Round and round we go.
Until they get bigger
Then make more.
So I will continue to work on these as a UFO challenge this year.

A new Pergola

It gets very hot where we are now living and the all day sun beats down on our patio so we have decided to add a 3 * 3 metre pergola to give a little extra shade area. laying the frame base area...
starting on the framework
looking at the frame
now for the roof and the gravel has been laid...
I sewed a shadecloth awning to protect from the sun.
It sure makes a difference to our outside space. The patio is a bit cooler. and we are loving it.
